TRM Racing shift knob and alcantara boot installed! Pics!

Just installed this. TRM racing shift knob, 6 inch model. The alcantara is from bimmian.com and is the dark grey color. I got custom orange stitching with this from them. Their service is fantasic and shipping did not take long at all (less than 2 weeks). Quality is great and I'm very impressed with the fit too. I only needed a small amount of glue for the hand brake it fit that well. The shift knob was difficult to get on, and I still don't have it down all the way; about a half inch to go. It will happen eventually. The shift throws are long but still manageable. On the plus side, I can now put a water bottle in my front cup holder and it doesn't get in the way of my shifting! Here are some pics:

Holy crap! That things huge (...she said, etc etc.). Other than being a bit ugly, that's got to be pretty sweet. I imagine the leverage makes the shifts very easy.

I don't get why you would get such a long shifter?

Reminds me of a manual jeep's shifter. As long as you like it and it works i suppose.

The quality looks pretty awesome... not my taste in such a tall shifter, but if you like it then rock it

Reminds me of a time when I was walking down Sunset Blvd and saw a huge commotion surrounding a gold beater Hyundai from early 00's. Everyone was taking pictures, curiosity definitely got the better of me. The owner swapped his stick for a 12" purple dong. It was even veiny.

Its really not as big in person. I know the picture makes it look fairly long but its still manageable (hahahaha). At least it doesn't look like a wang like the jaffster one does

I like the shift knob. Though I really don't like the Alcantera. The color mis-match doesn't look very good, sorry.

Here's my interiour with the BMW performance Alcantera for comparison:

Btw. I have a UUC short shift kit installed. Might switch to the TRM or similar shift knob in the future.

To get it closer to the steering wheel and easier to reach quickly.
Most race cars have it that way. Rally cars have them even higher (at actual steering wheel level).

Its actually funny when I went to buy the shifter the options were "5", "6", or "7" inch lengths, black, and a tapered end. I forgot what I was ordering at first LOL

To be honest I agree. If I were to do it again I would have gotten the black fabric. The dark grey looks a little 'brown' to me now that I see it in person. I can deal with it. Only 50 for both the boot and hamdbrake pieces though not bad

I approve of tall shift knobs. You'll want a short shift kit at some point. I have a Jaffster Delrin knob which is great but the throw is too long with the stock shifter; I have a UUC kit on order.
