When to go back to summer wheels/tires?
Since spring is on its way I was wondering when those of you with snow tires in the Chicago area switch back to your summer setup?! I really want my summer wheels/tires back on!

I usually wait until it's actually Spring (so at least 3/20,) before thinking about replacing the winter tires. And then, I usually don't get around to it until the first week of April, mostly because I remember a surprising April 1 snowstorm when I was living in Delaware about 10-15 years ago.

I am in Michigan and will wait until April. I prefer my 'summer' tires, but don't want to get caught somewhere with them and 3" of snow.

I was thinking the same thing... when...
although not an absolute science, i wait till we have consistent temps at least in the 50's.. Remember the summer tires suck when it is cold out also. Im guessing two weeks and ill swap ..

Winters off
We storage and swap tires for customers in the Kansas City area. Most put them on at last November and take them off early April.
Two main factor I recommend you look for, 1) morning temperature about 32 degF, and 2) no more snow. The temperature is the most important factor for dedicated winter tires. |

Was just thinking about this too, but it looks like we are having temps below 32 this weekend So probably end of March beginning of April for me.
