e82 BMW PE

Hi all,
Are the 128 PE muffler and 135i PE muffler the same/compatible?
Are the exact same muffler?
I'm getting conflicting answers.

Thanks

They're compatible if you have an exhaust shop do some kind of minimal work that I don't know the details of. Requires cutting / welding.

Oh interesting.. i always thought they were the same. Is the 128i you have to cut and 135i it bolts up to the stock flange?

I have the same question too. Can anyone confirm if the muffler (axleback) portion between the two is identical? I don't mind welding up just the axleback portion as I want to retain the resonator in the n55 midpipe

No! The 128i and 135i use different diameter exhausts. The PE kits are different for both models. The 128i PE is just the rear muffler. You will have to cut the old muffler at the axle - and then splice on the PE.

With the 135i PE, it is an entirely new exhaust system, new rear section and y-pipe. The only thing you need to do is cut off the resonator at the end of the mid pipe. The 135i PE comes with clamps to make this easy.

Different diameter exhaust muffler/pipes. So... not the same.

I have no idea what inside the tin box - but I bet its different. Just like a 116i PE is different from a 128i PE.
