wow. this is impressive. i want to see the results, and also would like to see a write out of the parts needed, and the prices in order to see how much it will cost in all to this custom setup....
super interesting and huge props for tackling this project subscribed.

A couple updated pics. Not going to show my bracket plans till done though. But at least you guys can see the diff in the rotors I'm using my rb rotor as a comparrison. Both are the same thickness just the m3 rotors diameter and hat offset are different. FYI the hat differences are 12mm.

Chris is the M3 rotor 345 mm? looks much bigger than your RBs. you're planning to use these rotors with your 996 calipers? it's gonna be great! still need to tackle the ducting experiment

Chris, take a look at this kit for an E46 M3 and let me know if this kit with a custom bracket can potentially be an option

Kori that's not an e46 345mm rotor, its an e92 360mm rotor. Honestly I didn't think the e46 rotor big enough to really provide any benefit. Its a lot of work for little upgrade.

Well guys bad news. The 360mm rotor won't work with either caliper by the time it'd get mounted properly to leave room for hot rotor expansion they wouldn't have enough pad covering the rotor.
Onto plan b and finding an e46 rotor which is much smaller.

E46 rotor. So essentially the original Dieselboost solution? Maybe we really should find out how we can buy some of those adapters en mass

honestly it might be cheaper to have some made over here than to try ordering internationally here. The thing though is with switching to the smaller e46 rotor it nullifies using the porsche calipers as there isn't enough pad there to not mess with the bias. blah

328mm E46 M3 rotors would give perfect bias with "Big Red" or "Big Black" calipers from 996 Turbo, GT2 and GT3. That's the Porsche caliper with huge 36mm and 44mm pistons.

Our rotors are 338mm, why would we go smaller with a 328mm?

Also more expensive and difficult to source perf pads for.

It's not necessarily the best option, just a combination of available parts that in theory would work perfectly and has a good chance of fitting. The M3 rotors are a little thicker than 135i rotors, 28mm vs 26mm.

so is that it? Dieselboost adapter, which is next to impossible to acquire, or RB 2 piece rotors, which still cracks anyways.... and that's it?

For now...I don't know if i want to make adapter like dieselboost for the other rotors....we will see how things go with some events that are transpiring right now in my personal life. Don't have the time or resources for a bit till they get resolved.
