My Own Personal Hell

Well, they've been warning us for weeks that they will be resurfacing our street, which has horrified me and scared me, and today when I came home, expecting perhaps just a torn up gravely, rocky road, I was met with what looked like christmas in LA in october. Just white chalky dirt everywhere. Plumes of it in the air when anyone drives by, and now my tires are completely white in the whopping 20 feet of it I was forced to drive on. Not happy and imagine it's only going to get worse. Ugh. I'm sure the OCD people out there are with me and can feel my pain.

Miserable in miracle land of christmas and just had to vent,

Greg

Option for "Custom" Start/Stop Bezels

Well, aside from dealing with my hell, and to take over the thread entirely apparently this afternoon, I found something interesting! Apparently BMW made start/stop bezels engraved with "LIMITED EDITION" on them for various e90 and e91 individual cars. I'm not entirely sure this will fit, but is a potential, interesting option that people like ECS and others sell for $65 and is part #61317973477.

Here's a picture of it on a car and a link to ECS if it will let me:

Once per year or every 10K miles for cars built after June 2013. If you are within 1K or so of the 10K threshold they will probably go ahead and perform the service. If you are within a week of the 1 year date I'm sure they'll just do it.

That's rather cool. I'm interested in buying maybe a set of 10 and having specific production numbers engraved. It's not too often that BMW builds specifically numbered cars and I think we should take full advantage of that.

Also, for the suspension debate, I'm ordering the performance suspension minus the shocks and going to see what will happen. If the shocks go, its a warranty claim.

I got mine installed by the dealer upon delivery for 1800. Looks and feels great.

Some people just prefer the stiffer sidewalls and turn in feel with them. Expect to pay about $2k though for parts + installation on the suspension though. Dealers charge through the roof and never do these installs, so I'd check those indy shops like the one you used before. Probably will cost $500-700 at a good performance/indy shpo for installation whereas some dealers will charge $1500 to I kid you not, $3000.

Oh, you may want to look at the dinan stage whatever suspension that's pretty similar. I forget if that's stage 1 or 2. Whichever one is below the one with the camber plates, etc. unless you really want to go full bore.

Great find, not sure if it'll fit neither since there isn't any detail on dimensions anywhere on the interwebz. I do know the e90 buttons are compatible between the E89 but not sure about E82/88. So who wants to be the guinea pig? I'll subsidize your cost with $2 via paypal for your troubles lol.

Ya, while it looks the same, it's not specifically listed as fitting so I'm not sure. If nothing else, it at least gives us an idea of what something may look like engraved. I don't like the all caps anyways, but got really excited at first when I saw it. That excitement has now weened.

That's about what I paid total - $1237 in parts, like $580 in labor, but I also had all 4 wheels balanced as well which I paid for, but everything was so perfect, I did not need an alignment, though I may get one soon which will be another $125-$175.

High but expected from a dealer. Around my area indy shop would run:

Parts 1250
Install 250
Alignment 150

Total $1650 seems more reasonable but $150 more for peace of mind from dealer and no warranty hassle is worth something.

But you just talked about it by saying you won't talk about it. One of you needs to get it. I would have done it before the other things and will be your piece d'resistance, the final piece of the puzzle.

Isabelle Gets a Sponge Bath

Getting my car all cleaned up this morning after the snow storm earlier this week. May even do a quick spray wax later today as well.

It's a hand wash, first car of the day. That's just it getting rinsed. If you have a better alternative, I'm all eyes.

It's ALWAYS a hand wash! They drive it in, they spray down the wheels and car, then it goes along and machines spray it with soap and water, then one dude on each side with a wash mit go over the car as it moves on down the line, then the rinse, then the blower thing.

I just don't take pictures of the guys as they're sponging my car cause the glass is all f'd up and hard to see in, plus I don't like the idea of taking their pictures, nor do I want them to see me doing that and get mad.

Could be worse though...I could have parked next to an M235...then I'd need to have my car washed all over again!
