Hey guys, I have a straight pipe for my 128. Since it's a muffler and 1 resonator delete, I need some opinions on how it would sound and if anyone has done this before?

If you have done it, please post a video of it. I'm worried it wouldn't sound as good. But a little opinion would help me.

Thanks!

prepare for rasp and loudness. I had catless headers, secondary cats, no resonator and a 135i axleback section and it was already very raspy and loud. I can't imagine a straight pipe is daily-able at all.

This is the setup i described above.

This is stock headers, secondary cats, no resonator, no muffler.(also very loud, not as raspy)

Doesn't sound bad. But at idle the car seems so quiet. Unless that's just the video

I feel like it is really hard to capture the volume level and actual tone of these exhausts on video.

On a cold start up with both of those set ups the idle is really loud, but once warmed up they idle very quietly.

Also very true. This video gives you a good idea of what it sounds like outside of the car. This is the catless headers, secondary cats, no resonator, 135i axleback.

It will be very very loud. I ran without a resonator with my BMW PE for a short time and immediately had one put back in. It was just way too loud and drone too much. I can't even fathom a straight pipe. Remember we can't get away with the same exhausts as 135i guys. The turbos on those cars quiet them down a lot. So a straight pipe there isn't bad. NA straight pipe will be loud. I would recommend keeping the resonator and starting with just a muffler delete.

I'm going to be keeping 1 resonator. It's gonna be a single resonator and muffler delete. Maybe if I get a custom muffler it would quiet it down?

I recommend trying out a muffler delete while keeping the remainder of the exhaust system in tact. It sounds great, makes it louder and retains the non raspy i6 exhaust note.

I wouldn't straight pipe. You need the Secondaries for headers...

Update: just installed the exhaust. I'll be posting up before and after videos of it. Thanks all of you for answering my questions! Car sounds incredibly deep with a nice roar to it. No raspy sounds. Exactly what I wanted ðŸ˜

I ended up keeping both resonators and did a muffler delete. Got a 3" piping welded on starting from the catback with magnaflow exhaust tips. Doesn't sound raspy at all. Actually sounds very aggressive.

To those who wanna hear what it sounds like, I do not know how to post videos up here (newby) but I do have a before and after on my instagram. Sabrina.e82 (profile is public).

Thanks for your help guys! Still planning on more mods. Will keep you guys updated
