It's Here!! Driving Impressions

Took delivery of our new 128 Conv. 6mt on Saturday. Took it on its first road trip up the shoreline into Gulf Shores, Al. on Sunday. This car is a blast to drive. Of course, we are in the break-in period so I had to keep it under
4k rpm for the first 1,000 miles (which was hard to do)

The weather was perfect and the we had the top down the whole way. The wind noise was minimal even without the windscreen. I ordered the windscreen today just to see the difference on the next trip.

BMW apps is a little counterintuitive to use at first but by the end of the trip my wife was whipping through the menu's faster than I could. I must admit, when we first got started, I was thinking we should have gotten the 135, but by the end of the trip, the power of the 128 was more than sufficient.

I was a little concerned about the run-flat tires as I have had BMW's before, and they were uncomfortably hard, but this time around, it wasn't an issue. The car has the Goodyear's on it which made me quite happy as that is what I had planned on replacing them with anyways. I would say there has been quite an improvement in the technology since my 05 Z4.

All in all, it reminded me of my Z4 in a couple of ways but in other ways, it was completely different. It is a great road car, perfect for longer road trips and cruising around the shore line. Where the Z4 was tiring and too low to the ground, the 128 simply shines. I love this car, and am sure we will get years of enjoyment out of it. Enjoy the pics!

The run-flats are my biggest complaint so far. Everyone who rides in the car complains as well!

Hey Ejm, I am stil going to replace them, but as far as run-flats go, they are not nearly as bad as the ones on my old Z4. My biggest complaint would have to be the wheels. For the price of this car, you would think it would come with a nicer set, especially in the M Sport Package. I see some 18" VMR's in my future with some Goodyear non-runflats.

Thanks everyone. The more I drive this car, the more I am thinking my next "toy" is going to be a 1M.

Is that the Oyster Boston Leather? Is it more white or is it more grey? I can't tell from the pictures.

Congrats!
My wife's 128 conv recently was delivered and we are enjoying it as well! I'm impressed w/ the steering feel and the power will be adequate for her. Top down driving is great and since we live in FL, I don't think the top will be up much at all!
Driving feel is still superior in my Porsche, but the little 128 is just about as much fun to drive!
