Aux input with ability to display track data and song title (and scroll through tracks using steering wheel controls) from any MP3 player would be nice.

I say this as somebody who does have an iPod (which, mind you, is overpriced and overrated) among other MP3 devices.

The iPod option wouldn't necessarliy eliminate the AUX input - the iPod option will connect directly to MOST (something the Aux-in does not do).

I'd pay for a native interface for the iPod with my e90. I have 3,000+ songs and sometimes I don't want to play my playlists and would rather scroll to a specific artist or album. It would be ideal if I could change my settings with the head unit as the controller. My .02

iPOD

I actually bought my iPOD after finding out that there was an AUX input. I got Satellite, so iPOD setup probably won't be an option anyway. I used to have an early generation mp3 player (Nike Rio)and it was nice, but the 30G iPOD blows it away. I do think the NANO is overrated, as it's less capable and the 30G is small enough. I think it's great to have my entire music collection along with me wherever I go.

I would love to have songs displayed and to be able to navigate folders and tracks from the steering wheel, but I expect to have my car for about a decade, and I have to imagine that the iPOD will not be the cutting edge in technology in even 36 months.

Yes! And, I love my Ipod, I believe an Ipod is like a BMW. An Ipod is expensive compared to other mp3 players in its class. Just as a BMW is expensive compared to other cars in its class. Worth it for an Ipod, YEP! Worth it for a BMW, YEP! Why? Answer: an Ipod is an Ipod and a BMW is a BMW.

Personally, I'd stop waiting for BMW to offer the adapter. Dension is likely to have it out first - they have more motivation to release it since their business is built around these kinds of parts. See my post here.

We should all call Dension at 866-822-3673, x121 and ask to be put on the waiting list for the adapter. The more of us that call, the faster it will be released into production. Please call !! I'm begging you to help !!

An iPod adapter is already available from BMW and a MOST version is coming out in the next few month. The upcoming MOST version integrates better than the currently available version - the current one uses an external display and keypad, while the MOST is going to use existing display and I'm assuming existing controls).
Here is the official BMW Bulletin on the current one and a mention in there as well on the upcoming one:

iPod Adapter for e90 Bulletin

Note: Price listed is in Canadian $

definitely not. i love apple and all its products but this would be simply an overkill. plus, none of the iPod offer me audiophile level of features that i want (not even a custom EQ) so i doubt i will ever get one.

you can say that about BMWs as well and people would argue with you. they offer something that none of the other players offer while they still lack something that majority people don't really desire, but some can't live without.

I said yes, but I'd only buy it if it were better than the iPod integration that we saw in the E46.

Why pay for something like this?

Just get the wireless remote control for your IPOD and call it a day.

Wow, its a $570 (US dollar) option! Thats an insane price for iPod integration. The MOST integration better be half that or they won't sell too many.
