Who has ordered a 1M?

Spoke to my local dealer today, said there are only a 100 coming, already has three deposits down.

At this stage they look like a April-May build with a 4th quarter delivery. Looks like I will have to decide real soon if I want one and get an order in.

Has any one ordered one yet AND which dealer is it coming from from?

I have ordered - Coastline BMW - I spoke to them last week, they have many people interested, but only one deposit. Someone else was very close, but not quite last week.

Not yet convinced how good it will be... so unfortunately I'm going to wait to test drive one before buying.

What I was told this AM, by the Dealer Principal was that there are no prices yet released/available, nor is there any idea of the specification or options list. Basically put down a grand and wait. Once the Aus build slots come up, March April, they will then enable you to choose colours and options (unlike a Focus RS where the colours and quantity of same are pre defined).

Nothing to loose really, unless you don't and all 100 Aus deliveries get spoken for (WHICH THEY WILL, I have no doubts). Just watch as people get their order, there will be a sudden hit on Carsales for prices way over RRP IMO!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....... tough decision........... the reviews sound really good especially the m3 suspension, wider track and quad exhaust.

May be I should put two deposits down...

No pricing or options yet as specs won't be release till december, and I would assume options available for the Oz market won't be finalised till just before build time.

I am not doing the sell and make $ thing, "I just want one" (ha good advertising line) and don't want to miss out. Once you spread 100 cars across the BMW network there won't be many out there, maybe two per dealer and a few more at the bigger CBD dealers in Syd and Melb.

Noting that people snapped up most of the 300 Focus RS's in a few weeks, do you think a car like this (a different league to a RS of course) will last any longer? Noting that they are/were selling at $69++ otr, double an XR5 price.

Just checked Carsales, http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?tabID=304727&Qpb=true&Cr=1&keywords=& SearchAction=N&N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282% 204294966463%204294966417%204294932651&silo=1011&s id=123CCDA1CAE1&seot=1&Nne=15&trecs=10&Ns=pCar_Pri ceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make _String|0||pCar_Model_String|0

some are actually listed at $79,900 Drive away, THIEVES!

What happened with the Z4M when it was released? Did they sell well?

I only ask because the 1M will be released at the end of the E82's lifecycle and people may not want to buy a car already very old. If the Z4M sold well, then it may be safe to say the 1M will too. If it didn't then maybe Australia buyers know that it's a bit outdated and will wait.

I recall reading somewhere the Z4M did not sell as well as they have expected.

I'm expecting the 1M to have a lot more success than the Z4M because it will appeal to a wider market. Being a roadster with only 2 seats is a niche market in itself and many wouldn't even compare the 2 cars due to its limited practicality. This is where the M3 has been so successful because it's a great DD. I see the 1M as a real competitor to the M3, just a bit lighter with a bit less room on the inside. Also, I believe the 1M will be a great car anyway. I can only imagine it will build on the hype and success of the 135i and taking it to a whole new level.

I hope less.... but when you look at a TTS (which I have) at RRP $120k odd I know what I would buy. Further, it may be rather hot property noting the "expected" build numbers.

GROUP BUY?

I was thinking the 140-150 mark. Aligning it up with the TT-RS & Cayman S. M1 seems a bit more hardcore than a TT-S. 120 would be awesome, but history would suggest otherwise!

I agree that 150k is really starting to approach m3 pricing and I don't think BMW would do that.
