Fitting The OEM 18x8.5 Rear Wheels in The Front, Will They Fitt??

Hi all,

I have a 09 135 with sport package and was thinking of fitting the OEM rear wheels in the front with 225/40-18 or 235/40-18 tires, will the 18x8.5 rear wheels with 52 offset fitt in the front with no problems?

Someone earlier tried the rear wheels on the front and got some rubbing on the suspension side.

You'll need some offset plates to push the wheels away from the suspension. An extra 10mm would do. You'll need to do a test and measure to be sure. Also, 225/40 is as tall as you're gonna want to go; its already taller than stock. 235/40 would be too much; 235/35s would be pretty close to the OEM configuration. I don't know who makes a 235/35 though; its a weird size.

I have heard on this forum: Stock rear wheels and tires can be run on the front by adding 10mm spacers.

That can be interpreted in many ways.

OEM Fronts are 24.8" in dia. 235/40/18s are 25.4" in diameter. that would be .6" difference in diameter which if cut in half for radius would be .3" difference in sidewall height. That would not be anywhere near too tall, as it is the difference in full tread to no tread on a normal tire. The rear rims fit perfectly with a 10mm front spacer. My reo1r's will be here in a week. I will post pics when they are installed.
Moral of the story, you should have bought 235/40/18 REO1-Rs when they were 108$, it was the deal of the century...
