It appears to be made of foam so my guess is a pound or two at most.

cost savings (imo)
BMW discontiued the Liners. Even the new 3 series cars will no longer have them. To me this is just a way to save some money....
edit: for those wondering what they are, they are "fire blankets" in case of overheating the plastic tabs melt, dropping the "blanket" on the engine |

So BMW took it out because they dont think there engines are going to catch fire anytime soon hahahaha

According to BMW's service roundtable, they're not using hood liners any more. There is no way (options, color, etc.) to determine which cars have liners and which don't. If your car didn't come with one from the factory, you cannot get one from the dealership.

Feb. build, sport, premium, 6 MT, Cashmere Silver. No liner.
I thought one point of a liner was to protect the paint on the hood from excessive temperature swings? Maybe that's not an issue with modern paints? |
