Custom Passport 9500ci Full Install in 1M
So I've had my car for a little while now and the first things I knew I was going to do were 9500ci radar, 3M Ventureshield and kidney grilles. The radar is the Escort Passport 9500ci (http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ci-details.php). I have the radar in one of my other cars and love it, works great, full stealth and with the GPS feature it locks out false alarms making it far less annoying than others. I had the controller custom built into the lower trim panel then it was repainted keeping it OEM looking. Unfortunately we don't have the good mirror like in the other 1's, 3's, etc. So i couldn't have it put in place of the compass. I had him install it up by the headliner and use the custom black smoke lens because I don't like the purple looking one that comes with it. The lasers are in the front which you can see along with the radar sensor behind the grille. Everything else was hidden and I chose not to use the rear laser because I do not like how it looks and it is extremely rare to get hit with laser in the rear.
As for the clearbra the installer was in a good mood and able to print quite a bit on the sheets so I got a lot of pieces. There is a partial hood, partial fenders, entire front bumper, headlights, mirrors, rocker panels, pieces in front of rear fenders, top of rear bumper, a-pillars and about 6" into the roof. And lastly you can see the Suntek Carbon 38% tint and the black kidneys were done. Let me know what you guys think, I'd also be curious to see what kind of radar/laser setups the rest of you guys are running. |

Beautiful installations all around. I have an Escort Qi45 in one of my other cars and love it, but planning to go with 9500ci for the 1M for the GPS functionality. Problem is that I need all of the components to be completely hidden from peering eyes when it's parked. I'm going to have to buy the Smokers package ashtray/cover since BMW doesn't allow it to be ordered as an option in the US, and that will work to hide the controller. Anybody have any ideas? Maybe upgrade the mirror in order to install the display?

if you do not have navigation, consider hiding it in the dashboard part of the storage package (not available on a new US 1M). To be mounted at the same location as the iDrive screen.

Great install, it really is flawless...
Just curious, how do you access the power button on the controller? On the controller for the 9500ci there is a power button on the side/top which would be covered once you mount it flush into the cut-outs... You need to access the power button every once in a while for updating and programing, at least on mine... |

Awesome installation. Wondering if you used Musclemarinara's E82 1M Retro-Fit Homelink & Compass Mirror COMPLETE ! thread, if you could install the display in the mirror like you wanted to do. It would cool to see. Do you have any pics from a previous install showing the display inside the mirror? |
