I've seen that, looks good but people's reviews are either good or bad regarding the work needed to make it fit. Some people grind it a little and it fits well, others have to hack it to death and it still doesn't line up. For the price though, should you expect that? I guess.

We have two lips available over here, Kerscher or an iCarbon copy which I am not keen on. The lastest generation of BMW's aren't that well supported but if you've got an E36/46, you're covered for all area's. I suspect the E9x/E8x will be the same in 2-3yrs when it's totally obsolete.
I hear you! I I'd stay far away from that lip. I know a guy locally that has it and it it just doesn't fit!

Its sad that they are using your picture of your car with a real lip to sell their POS lip.

Finally installed mine yesterday. Hopefully the weather will hold out long enough for me to wash my car.

(Don't mind the truck in the grass in the background, we were loading that ATV into the back of it when I took this photo.)

If someone here with this lip wouldn't mind getting under their car and getting some dimensions for me I would greatly appreciate it.

I need length, width (at ends and at middle), thickness and mount points. A picture of the unmounted lip would be awesome too.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply, I guess. The picture was an added bonus, what I really need are measurements.

Searched the thread, nevermind that even the whole forum, came up with nothing. Maybe I missed it, maybe the search function is finicky. Don't make assumptions. Also found nothing on dimensions of the lip, mounting point measurements etc, even straight from vendor sites.

What a PITA.

Why do you need that type of detailed measurements? So you can copy it and attempt to make your own lip? No vendor is going to provide you with that type of info and no forum member is going to spend their time measuring for you so you can make one and then profit off of it. If you want to make your own that badly then just buy one and you will have all the measurements you need.

The plan would be to make the information and plans for a DIY custom abs design public so any member here could profit from it. For FREE. And no I'm not a fool, I never would have thought a vendor would help me with this.

I cant quite understand the negativity here. Great community.

You don't need measurements for that. You can make it all on your own without anything. Go buy a big ABS piece and prop it up to the front of the car. Then mark how long you want the lip to extend and make sure its already extended past the mounting points. Then cut the ABS piece and attach it through the already there OEM mounting points.

I was under the impression that the OEM mounting points weren't sufficient and that it would rip off wothout proper placement. If im wrong, that's fine, I'm man enough to admit and accept that.

You are semi correct. It won't rip off but at high speeds such as 100+ the downforce will bend the front of it so its not a straight lip anymore but makes it sag towards the bottom. That's why alot of these lips contour to the middle front of the bumper where they add the strong 3M tape to make sure it won't sag like that.

You can't make a contour to the middle of the front bumper with ABS and ABS by itself isn't going to be strong enough to withstand the downforce at 100+ mph unless you get those metallic rods and attach the front of the lip to the front bumper like the track cars do it.

That's why there aren't many DIY front lips and that's why most of the front lips are alot more complicated than just 1 sheet of ABS plastic.

Well regardless, thank you for your help. A partially aluminum backed abs sheet may be necessary in that case to resist additional shear stress w/o adding much weight. If the OEM points are sufficient that will be a great starting point. Time to see what I can come up with in CAD.

If I fail then we can learn from it and try again.

It uses some of the OEM mounting points, however the added mounting points can be wherever you feel would be enough to support the lip. There isn't a whole lot of square footage on the bottom of the front bumper to work with, so it shouldn't be hard to choose some additional holes to drill for extra mounting points.
