Thinking about getting bridgestone RE760 as they are almost 300 cheaper than Michelin PSS and since im just using them to DD i dont need that extra performance and im hoping they get better mileage as well.

I am thinking of getting the following sizes 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear anyone have any experience on a 135i on 261 rims ? Any rubbing ?

What type of mileage have you gotten out of these tires ?

I'm running those sizes on my 261's. My tires are non run flats (Delinte d7) but I still have a fair bit of clearance and have no issues at full lock.

As for mileage, I didn't buy the car for good mileage

I had those tires on mine, same sizes and rims. Got about 15k out of the rears and then they were done. Front's still had about 35% life left.

Honestly, they were a pretty bad tire. Loud and clunky feeling, not sharp and not a lot of grip. I have the Hankook evo2 back in the stock sizes and it's a night and day difference. Much more grip, turn in, and they ride smooth & quiet!

Only have experience with the 760 vs. the EVO (original), and couldn't disagree more. The EVO is known for it's shitty sidewall (think the 2 is better?), and the 760 is know to be a pretty crisp, Bridgestone-feeling, tire.

Like the 760 a lot on my M3 for a DD summer. Give up grip vs. ultra high/extreme performance summers, but they have plenty for the street.

I went back to the stock sizes to have a slightly smaller circumference. The 225/255 combo are slightly taller tires. I felt that going back to the stock sizes gave me back some of the sharp handling feel.

Also, note that the RE760 are high performance tire while the Evo2 are ultra high performance tire. I'm now on my 2nd set of Evo2s for the rears and I got 19k out of the first set, more than any other tire I've owned.

I'd look into Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. I run these and they grip like crazy and are not much more than the budget performance 760. You should price them before you decide on the 760's.
Mileage varies due to driving style but it's kind of the same story with most performance tires.

The fronts last about 3 times as long as the rears. Good luck

Love S04s. Don't last near as long as 760s, if that matters much.

I've been wanting to try the Michelin PSS tires since they came out but the S04's are so much cheaper and the bang for the buck is unbeatable for me.

But if the PSS's last longer maybe it's a wash.

Yea I got 760s on style 263 rims in 225/40/18 and 255/35/18, pretty good bang for buck and they last a decent amount of time (bear in mind I have a 128 so less "load" on the rear due to less power). I think it's a good value for this kind of tire....better IMO and the "tier 2" brands overall. May not have the best ultimate grip but as an overall tire, pretty good.

I just made the switch from 760 to MPSS. If you can afford the $300 more, get the MPSS.
I go mine from pmctire for about the same price as you quoted.
If you are near MTL I could sell you my fronts. They are virtually brand new.

Just checked my treadwear on the S-04's I have and the rears are shot. They are only good for about 15K at the most. Fronts are on year 3 but are close to 3/32's ....so I made an appointment for my first set of Michelin PSS's in 225/40-18 .. 255/35-18 form.

Michelin is having a rebate of $70 if you buy 4 tires by April 10.

My set cost $924.84 out the door.(Tax, mounting and balance, tire disposal fee) Install date is Good Friday and indeed it will be.
Alignment is tomorrow at the dealer.

I have never gotten more than ~15k out of a set of rear tires on this car. Usually more like 10k. Absolutely eats them for breakfast lunch and dinner. Fronts easily last me 20-30k. I wouldn't let treadlife deter you from a tire unless it averages less than 8k per set. Or if you're buying for strict use as AutoX or Track duty.

I understand that the rears won't last. But Michelin claims that the PSS gets more treadwear than the previous generation.

Did a lot of research on these tires and it was time to give them a try. the price is right also. $925 - 70 = $855

The RE760 isn't that great. I've driven them hard on someone else's car. In the dry, they don't have the adhesion of a top or even penultimate tier summer tire and apparently they don't last that long.
