128i SCCA STX Prep
Some people took some awesome shots of my 2012 BMW 128i Prepared for SCCA STX. This is in Lincoln Nebraska during the ProSolo Finale and Nationals.
Enjoy! |

You changed a little stuff on it compared to the last time I checked one of your thread Which seats are these ? And which pads are you running (I saw some Hawks ...) ?

I'm running Recaro SPG seats w/VAC mounts. I'm also running Hawk HP+ Pads. They are loud, but they work. Thanks, it has been a frustrating experience getting to this point to try and figure out how to setup the car, but I believe we're getting there |

Yep, I think you're going in the right direction. I'm reflection on the pads for my next one for street and track use ... I don't want now to have two distinct sets ...
I'm planing to get a diff maybe next week if it will be compatible with the other mods I've in mind. Now it's time for the suspension time even I will replace them when the car will be fully dedicated to track. Are the seats good enough compared to the OEM one and especially compared to the Recaro Pole Position (if you have ever tested them) ?

The HP+ are noisy on the street. Can't really avoid them but I live with it. IMO, the SPGs are more comfortable than the Stock Seats. They don't give me any pinch points. I drove 13 hours in them to and back to Lincoln. I sat in the Pole Positions and they give me a bit more room, but I like to be fairly secure in the seats (i'm 6'1" 185lbs) |

Here is a brief overview of what you can do: Coilovers & Camber Plates Wheels (Max 9") Tires Max 265 Width Seats (min weight 25 lbs) Headers, Exhaust (must maintain OEM cat location within 6", if you have 2 cats you can consolidate) Limited Slip, cannot change final gear ratio SSK LTW Battery Brake Pads or BBK Kit (If you swap rotors they must be the same size or bigger) Sway Bars Bushings as long as they maintain same amount of material (aka you can't swap rubber to metal bushings) I'm probably forgetting some things, but for full prep all I need to do is headers, diff and a battery. Right now my weight is 2981 lbs |

Very nice. Good to see a 128 set up right, and being put to the right use
What are the specs on wheels/tires?

You can do catless headers, you just have to fab a cat in OEM location.
OR Since I have secondary cats, I can run catless headers and throw a small 100 cell cat in the 1st section location and satisfy the rules Quote:
They are APEX 17x8.5 ET40 square w/ 245/45 Hankook RS3v2 Tires. I need to find a way to squeeze 9" under the front, it will be a tight fit. |

Is the braking of the HP+ good enough for the street ? I would better go with another solution instead of them Really ? I have the OEM M-sport leather seats and they are comfy (but I can have some problems driving during hours in it), so that sounds nice ! I'm taller than you are, so I may need more place the Pole Position offer but I'm lighter ... I think I should find some place or some guy to test them before buying !

Oh yea, the HP+ is plenty. They get to temp really quick and have good bite when cold. Nothing to worry about street driving ability, they do it very well....just loud. You really need to sit in the seats. I liked the PPs but then sat in the SPGs and it was just more natural for me |

I would not like to have squeezy brake pads ... That could be horrible on street (and moreover people would say: "bad tuning car"). Maybe you didn't put some lube behind the pads, that's why they are making noise ? Do you have any opinion on the Hawk HP Ceramic pads ?
I checked the Pagid S and I think it could be a solution. Regarding to what Turnermotorsport said on their website, it's the OEM pad for Porsche, Ferrari, etc ... So to sum up, one is in the street range and the other in the track one ... Difficult choice ! Yesterday I sat in the Recaro SPG in a M3 GTS (in a BMW garage) ... It was that cool ! The seats weren't hurting me, but I have place enough (they don't maintain me a lot). I didn't put the harness to test them completely ... It was harder than the OEM leather one, that's clear, but not THAT uncomfortable !

Never used ceramic pads, but typically I don't like them. They lack significant bite. Are you sure you didn't sit in the XL version? XL are much bigger than SPG and PPs |
