Chicago area dealers

I will be moving to Merrillville, IN (about 40 miles SE of Chicago) and need advice on which dealership to take my car in for service and recalls.

Thanks

+1 on Patrick in Schaumburg, IL...however it'll be a drive from where you'll be. There's a BMW dealer in Schereville, IN which is closer to you, however I'm not sure how their service dept. is.

BMW in Westmont, IL seems closer than Schaumburg - SW suburb of Chicago.

Thanks for all the responses. I plan on going to Patrick today. I wonder if they are as "mod friendly" as the dealers down in SC? I will find out and let you all know.

They're a "mod friendly", no-hassle dealer. I think you'll like them.

Patrick BMW is probably one of the most mod friendly dealerships around the Chicagoland area. BMW of Westmont used to have a SA that was an enthusiast as well, so he was always cool about mods, however he quit a couple months ago. Not sure about the rest of the people at Westmont though.

I'm not too far from Merrillville. I go to the one in Schererville occasionally as it is the only one anywhere near here. They have just recently changed ownership, and have been fair and professional since - I refused to go before. I can let you know if my experience changes.

I have an import repair shop I use for out of warranty work - they are great and much more affordable. Classic Imports - in New Buffalo MI

We are left with pretty bad options here in NW Indiana.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. My experience at Patrick was very positive. They even upgraded my NAV at no charge and gave me a 335ix to drive for a while because the car took longer than expected.

Malapane: Can you give me an address for the shop to do the out of warranty work?

Give Laurel a shot also if you need somewhere closer to you than Schaumburg, never had anything but good service there. The one in Shererville has always been notoriously bad... wonder if they've changed at all yet. Worst case scenario go see Ryan Burton at Bill Jacobs. I know the dealership sucks but he used to be with Laurel (with Andre who was SA to basically everyone here who had a modded car, he left recently) and he is super mod friendly and one of my good friends (CubanJJ09) has been going to him for years.

Schereville BMW

I got lazy and took my car to Schererville BMW a couple of days ago because it needed an oil change and it seemed to be mis-firing badly in the morning. I checked the codes with my BT cable to confirm and took the car in. They did the oil change, replaced the spark plugs and claimed the mis-firing was being caused by the my "after market down pipes". They wanted to replace them with stock ones "to fix the mis-firing" and I declined of course. I explained to the SA that there is no way that the DP can cause the mis-firing in the mornings but she refused to understand.

I got my car back and noticed on the invoice (they did not charge me for any work) that they had replaced the ignition coil?! Confirms to me the problems have nothing to do with the DP.

I certainly won;t be going back there and will stick with Patrick BMW (even if it 50 miles away).

Next week I am going to try the Eurocharged software from LETMOTORSPORTS. Will update whoever reads this on how the car does.

I got my car from Laurel and they were great people to deal with. I'm taking my car in for the 1200 mile oil change this weekend. Eurocharged is a great place to get a flash done. It's just a shame they moved to Texas before I picked up my 1er.

Have not been able to set a time to get my car flashed with the Eurocharged software. Apparently, the one and only person qualified to discuss the sale of the software is in Houston and does not return phone messages. Not very encouraging should i ever have a question.

After the new year, I will probably go to the JB4 (when it is ready). The service from BMS is fantastic (I had the JB+ for 1 year).
