My 135i Fuel Consumption PB Record
I drove out West the other weekend and decided to experiment with my cars fuel consumption by getting the maximum km's out of my fuel tank. I normally average anywhere between 300-360km per tank for 70 city and 30 highway driving. It was 700km there and back.
I got 580km out of a full tank which is a new PB for me. My car is stock and I left it in boring D the entire way. It was 90% highway speeds varying between 80km/hr to 110km/hr. I did about 5 WOT pulls to show a friend the power of the car but besides that I took it very easy. I'm impressed with our engines. I think I could have easily managed 600km had I not done any WOT pulls and even more had I not had an extra passenger in the car and keeping anything in the boot. |

How many litres of fuel did you use on your 700km trip?
Early on in the year, I drove from Sydney to Wagga and back..Round trip about 920km's..One passenger and luggage.. Driving on Map5/JB3 and NOT taking it easy ( sitting on the speed limit and mostly on 115km/hr ) , I averaged 8.3 litres/100km.. Not bad.. Last edited by Zuzu; 12-03-2010 at 10:54 PM.. |

I'm at the opposite end of the scale with average fuel consumption of 19 L/100km. That said, it's probably because I live in the city and spend half my life waiting at traffic lights!

Highway didn't change much. So 19l is a lot have you got 500bhp under the hood.

19L is crazy, I normally get around 14.5L around town and 17L when i'm pushing it.
I forgot to mention that I had the AC on the entire time for my new PB and I averaged 9.5L. I think this is because I had to stop a few times and drove through some small towns. Zuzu, that's an impressive considering you are tuned. I assume it's because you're running a lot leaner with the JB3 as opposed to running stock. |

Anyway, the car is due for an inspection next month so I might ask them to check it out then. |

The best I did was below. Canberra - Sydney. Not too bad, I must say! Included a couple of pulls. Air con on as well the whole way.

My average basically for the past year is 9.3... You guys must just hammer it all the time! Or sit in traffic. I usually don't have to go into peak hour traffic so I'm lucky. Mostly suburban driving, not much highway.

Beat the lot of you - 29.9L/100km three weeks ago on a track day! Seriously though - I would average about 10L/100km in the 135i around town. The M3 does about 14L/100km around town, the Kizashi does 10L/100km - a loooong way from the claimed 8L by Suzuki! But the winner by a long way is the X5 40d.....8L/100km around town - what a legend!
