1 Series M Coupe launch

I think BMW are making this a much 'bigger' fanfare than recent launches. Obviously it is a brand new car model, but what do you reckon BMW will/should do in Australia for it?

My dealer confirmed only 100 models available for Australia, and that was yesterday afternoon. BMW Aus. had their annual conference in Melbourne last week/end, and apparently that's the latest we've heard.

side grills unveiled!

a bit disappointed that they aren't real grilles, rather just a crease. (not sure if this is old news)

If BMW's marketing of the 1M was a date with a girl, this is equivalent to her showing you her upper thigh and cleavage on your 89754th date.

Stop fucking around BMW and take that shit off.

Doubtful BMW would have a big launch for a car that's supposedly so limited? Especially being an end of run car... Unless they think they can get a lot of exposure out if being such a 'raw' drivers car.

They sure have bled their marketing out enough to gain enough exposure as it is!

i don't mind the orange in the video

styling is really no surprise at all there was virtually nothing of f&%king interest left to show under the leather cover, no wonder they just dumped the video, bit of a let down really

Valencia Orange is DEFINITELY the colour to go for if I got this car. BSM or AW are just too boring for it.

Love how the front looks super menacing now. Wish our 135i's were more like it.

Finally!

Mixed feelings though... The grills on the doors look crap, and the bonnet needs some more aggression. Love the headlights though and overall it looks tough.

Now all we need to know is acceleration times, price and how many will they make.

Headlights good, and I like the colour. I guess one critical thing would be the weight. I guess we'll have to wait and see .

Should be like GT5 where my 135i runs 575hp and weights 1260kg.

wider stance looks a bit porky to me, but works well overall. power output is a bit of a joke stock but let's see what the tuners can do

I have no doubt the 1M is better than the 135i in every way, it's a much more complete package. I can't justify the estimated 50k premium it will come with over the 135i though. It's merely a 335is or sdrive35is engine which is the same engine as the 08-09 135i's, the N54. I'm not sure how they achieved the bump in horsepower either but my guess is a mild tune equivalent to a JB+ and a different exhaust setup.

My thoughts are that there are plenty of modded 135i's that will run laps around the 1M on track and down a drag strip and it won't be anywhere near the price difference. It still wouldn't be close if you even factored in a turbo upgrade pushing out 500whp too. I know it won't have the "M feel" or "M button" though.

I think a 1M with a tune would be a great car. I wish BMW came out with the original tii concept, it looked a lot more promising. I'm not disappointed with the 1M, i'm just disappointed with its price point in the BMW line up.

I love the angry ARRGGHHHHHH look it as from the front now, but there are a couple of things.

Halogen angel eyes for LCI = fail
Engine from iS models = fail

Don't mind the manual seats, saves weight and I'm the only one that drives anyway. However, I've heard that the M has bigger turbos so tuners should be able to squeeze more power out of it.

Considering it has literally all the M3 suspension bits bolted on and has the awesome ///M differential, this thing will be an absolute MONSTER with a PROcede.

Reminds me a bit of how you could buy a WRX and, for less money overall than an STi, tune it to have a car that handles, brakes and goes better (and also minus the pram-handle rear spoiler which I never liked). In the interest of fairness you do miss out on some few extra tricks like the adjustable differential and the more aggressive bodykit.

Likewise, I'm not willing to part with the extra dough for this car, it's not going to translate into a great deal more "Joy" for me, my 135i is perfect for me right now.

I'm more disappointed about no carbon fibre roof and super porky weight. 1570kg is almost 100kg more than a 135i.

Sure this thing can be tuned but for an ///M car I want it to be almost perfect from factory.

The weight is EU weight, which includes driver, fuel and luggage. The 1M is actually lighter/similar to the 135i.
