Not at all. It's not everything I wanted it to be, in terms of engine mostly. But all up it's a gorgeous car and a great package.
As long as they keep the numbers limited I'm definitely still in. |

Depends on $$$$$ now - put it this way, I won't pay 50% premium like we normally do with current Ms. I am a bit reserved for the engine specs - although it says M tuned, I failed to see there's any difference between a iS engine apart from the lighter flywheel + extra cooling. If that means ///M for marketing then I won't pay the full M premium for a non-M engine. Happy to pay extra for M bits, but not as much as I would have been if they were able to tune out something unique to the car. So, if it's in the vicinity of 100-110k, I think I would be happy, but not 120-130k.

I think I am also waiting for the pricing to make a final decision.
I think cosmetically it is good, dissapointed in colour choices and also the standard 1 seats (why not the M Sport Seats) in Boston leather (no nappa). And there are so many nice touches that I am spoilt with in the M3 that the 1 doesn't have. Though I do like the alcantara interior touches on the trim, doors and dash pod. Power, well I don't think there will be much in it between the M3 and the 1 in a straight line stoush so meh.... sure, you can also tune the 1M a LOT easier (read cheaper) than it is to in an M3, ie: adding a SC. Decisions decisions, one thing is for sure though, if, as I was informed earlier this week by a BMW representative, they stick to the 100 total Aus allocation, it might be a winner at least in the resale stakes. |

Have to agree with both of you Alpine and Steve. I was really hoping it was going to be a proper M-tuned engine, but deep down inside, we always knew they wouldn't let it mess with it big brother too much. I know that it's still going to be an amazing drive in the handling stakes and to me that's all that really matters when it comes to performance. I'm sure it's has that nimble, throw-about-ness that I love so about my 1.
Straight line is quick enough for now and it's definitely more in line with my age than a M3 - as much as I love them. Interior, is a bit of let down with the seats, was hoping from the proper M-seats but again not a deal breaker. I'm not the biggest fan of Alcantara, so really hope there's option for leather instead - but again not the end of the world. Love the rev-counter! All up my decision fully rests on it being a limited run and the final price. If it is limited it should be great value after a few years as it'll be the very first 1M as well, so perhaps some future classic value too. |

You reckon someone will starting to see the "Powered by ///M" stickers for the engine bay for sell?

I feel that there is no specific identity on this 1M. They took some z4, M3 and 1er components and put it together. I don't know if it's just me. What do you guys feel about this?

I must say that for a 135i coupe owner like myself, I'm not 100% sure that there's enough difference between the 135i and the M1 to justify coughing up the changeover cost which, even for a newish car, is likely to be in the order of $40-50k.
If I was moving from something else however, I think that the M1 would be pretty appealing as a package. |

If you've already got a 135i you may as well spend a good 4-5k on the handling side of things and you're not far off what the 1M would be. I'd pick up a 1M engine bay cover too and call it a day

The rear suspension setup is completely new to any M car, and with the LSD, wider tracks, and upgraded brakes, it will perform probably better than any M car in the handling department. I believe the improvement would be substantial. My issue is if M didn't touch the engine at all (for cost/time constrains), then I won't be happy to shell out, say 120-130k on road for the car for an upgraded flywheel, and extra cooling. Furthermore, if they said the engine was Powered by ///M, I think that is almost deceptive marketing. I guess they can now market the Z4iS engine is M tuned to cover themselves - but that's a bit doggy. The grape vines said there is more to it (and certain data also suggested that's the case such as the 0-100 numbers improvement), but we'll have to wait and see.

My Z4 35is doesnt have a "Powered by M" sticker on the engine hehe. So I agree it does seem a bit dodgy on BMW's part! But it does have the lighter dual mass flywheel according to the reviews.
I can say that the 35is tune is actually very nice. |

Looks like they didn't even change the flywheel from the iS engine either then!!!! Being a great engine aside --> dodgy!
