Got My Car Back After a Software Update (CIP 19.3) and Now, BLUETOOTH Doesn't Respond

Got the car back yesterday from having a couple things fixed; jammed fuel door spring, broken cup holder, and the software update. Upon getting my car back, i've tried for an hour trying to get the bluetooth to respond to my Motorola v3 RAZR and it just wont respond, even though the car responded prior to the software update. Is anyone else having this problem???

Side Note: BMW of Irvine had to try 3 times to update my software before my dme took it in.

First, and most important: the software update will remove any paired devices you have with your bluetooth system. You will need to re-pair your phone(s) just like the car is new.

Having said that, I had a terrible time with mine too after the software update. I was able to pair both our phones easily enough, but the car would not connect to either phone. I tried for two weeks and finally took it back to service. They claimed there was no problem and it worked fine for them. Suddenly, it's been working pretty good for me again... coincidence?

Absolutely!!! Only after their slight of hand trick. I suppose it was one of the "ask no questions and they tell you no lies" scenario.

Main thing is that it works! In the end that's all that matters for you.
Enjoy!!

The CIP 19.3 is the December update and it worked great for rendering the problem of the passenger airbag light and the key memory function but not for my bluetooth so far. What is the update supposed to do for the Mp3?

Yeah i figured that i had to re-pair my phone because it removed all my fm radio channels as well. I tried repairing for an hour but it just wouldnt work. I geuss i will be in the same situation as you...Taking the car in and telling them that bluetooth doesnt work while they do some little fix that will probably enable it to work. LED, what did you tell your dealership when you came into service? Did you make an appointment or walk-in?

I made an appointment and told them bluetooth wasn't working. Do you have BMW Assist? Test your SOS - it may not be working either. They may have fried your TCU.

I picked up my car after the software update today. I simply had to pair the phone with the car again and it worked immediately.

I actually don't know the version (it wasn't listed on my invoice). My service rep told me that my car has two recalls on it (before I got a chance to tell him I wanted the update) and they did both on the car. I do have RDS working now in iDrive if that's any indication.

two recalls? you should have received a letter from BMW about that -- I would think other people on the board would be getting letters, too.

Recall is what they're calling the software updates. The service bulletins say that they need to apply the updates when the car comes in next for service. I think others have heard them being called "campaigns" by the dealers to avoid calling them recalls. I guess it's a required thing to be done to the car but it is not urgent.
