Why so little interest?
I got the new Motor mag last night. Nothing on the 135...
I would have thought this is one of the most exciting cars to be released this year - along with the GTR - and I have seen so little interest from the car magazines. The new Evo gets a 4 page article and a cover photo. 135...nothing! Any ideas why?

On the contrary, I believe the interest is only beginning on this car, whereas the Evo and GT-R have been hyped up alot over the past 12 months...I've been following those 2 closely for years, my favourite car ATM is the new R35 GT-R, would get one in a heart beat if I had 150k spare cash !!!
The other fact is that both the GT-R and the Evo are legends of road and track and have been around for a long time (similar to the M3) and have a massive cult following, so people will always want to talk about what they're up with these vehicles, whereas the 135 is a newcomer  IMHO there's no doubt the 135i will gain more following here in Australia as time goes on  |

With spirited driving it's as high as 20ltrs/100km :eyebulge: but all worth it with it's gob smacking performance, 0-100km/h in 3.2sec 1/4 mile in mid 11's and handling, braking/track capabilty that leaves all others for dead !!! You definitely need an oil refinery for that one too LOL For me though it dosn't matter, as a car like that would be a weekend bruiser/joy car not DD  135i as a DD would be sweet  |

yes, here at home the hype is still alive and kicking around the 135 but the anticipatory hype before launch was just on another level!
i know its all a matter of taste, but i honestly cannot stand the way the r35 looks from the front. the review in CAR of it side-by-side with the is-f and evo X was very nice though. |

Yes the R35 is a monster of a car, but I would have to agree with prof. re the looks, particularly the front.

I dont think most people think of a beemer that isn't a M as a performance car. When I was told about the 135 I didn't believe the figures and the cost, but obviously I was wrong. Given time I think these babies will become legends.

If I read one more road test of a Falcodore from either Wheels or Motor, I think I'll throw up......
Unfortunately, Aussie magazines have to cater to the Aussie bogan who thinks that cubic inches are all there is......... And the last Motor issue that tested the 135I last month on gravel to come up with a 0-100km time of 5.7 sec (1 sec less than reality) shows the state of amateurishness that Aussie magazines are so proud of?! Honestly, if you want to read representative road reports of anything other than Falcodores, better off reading US mags like Road & Track and Motor Trend Sigh.... |

R35 is MUCH bigger than a R34. Much much wider. 20l/100km? I do that on daily drives in my 6.2litre V8 monster lol. Don't bother with the SLK55. The engine to go for is the 63. It's designed by the same person who did the GT3 engine, and the only AMG engine ever that hasn't originated from Mercedes. It's sensational!

On the other hand, the GT-R, Evo and WRX STI brands have been around for over a decade. They have street cred and the punters are anxiously awaiting the new breed. Hence the heavy coverage they get in MOTOR and WHEELS. But just like WAY says, keep an eye on upcoming BFYB and PC tests in MOTOR over the coming months and I'm sure that the 135i will start to attract some serious press coverage.

Haha yes I reckon he is wasting his money modifying his RX-8! If I have the amount of mods on my car as his does, I would be 8s a lap faster than him at Sandown!

I am not joining that pissing came. My 8 is fun to drive although it is slow. I was thinking of downgrading to a MX-5! But I decided to tubro the car in the future... (from 100 or so kW to 220kW in the dyno) just to catch up with u!
At least I am at the top of the RX-8 group now and want to be the fastest RX-8. Rotary is fun. Prof, I only did one session in Wakefield in the early days, back in 2005. It was a 14s but now it has been resurfaced early this year and the fast RX-8 driver are doing 12s now. Prof, I am looking for a daily and you will never know; I may buy a 135 2nd hand later and show WAY how to drive. Come on guys too... you all 135ers should get out there and beat WAY's time. Not hard at all. You have an awesome car.

Come Oct, my 135i AUTO may well hit the track (post run-in). Given it's my daily driver, I'll be taking it easy, especially if at Sandown. Don't really like that place....
