Avalon? That's a sofa with four tires. How can you stay awake driving it? Please tell me you don't wear black socks with your sandals.

Road trip? Definitely the 1'er. Work, running errands, keeping the miles down? - I've got a cheap winter driver for that, but open road- this car, sport seats, run-flats gone- nothing better. A rental would make me gag.

I wind up driving rental cars as much as my 1'er, but that is because the trip starts so far away from home. It isn't exactly sane to bring your car with you to Hawaii for two weeks.

Only situations I don't like driving my car are:
A. When I have to drag more than 1 passenger around (this is not a van people) B. Roads are terrible So yea, unless your trip had 1 of those 2, I personally would drive the 1 I drive my car a minimum of 180 miles a week. About 40% are in moderate - heavy highway traffic. Some would rather have a corolla for these duties, but I say, if I'm gonna spend this much time in a car, it might as well be in one I love to drive right? |

Took my car on a 1000 mile drive and almost got stranded in the absolute middle of no where due to a horrible misfire.

Took it to the dealer, they said I didn't need a new coil. Plugs also fine. They basically said nothing was wrong. I got my lpfp sensor replaced and they said having the sensor out could have been related to the misfire but I doubt it. I guess I'll find out eventually but hopefully not during my 1000 mile drive at the end of the month.

The only concern I have with driving my own car, is that I'm the only one doing the driving whether I'm tired or not (unless you have passengers that can drive a manual). Actually have the same kind of decision to make for an upcoming road-trip down Oregon coast and that choice was made for me because my car is the only available car for the trip.
I wish I could drive my "new" car over European roads... |

Picked up my ordered new 09 135i @ Seattle in the summer. Immediately drove it to Slc-UT, KC-MO, back to Slc-UT, Las Vegas, LA-CA, put it on a ship to Hawaii. Two years later, put it back on a ship to Tacoma-WA, Drove it back to Slc-UT.
Picked up my ordered new 13 135is@ Beverly Hills in the summer. Immediately drove it to Las Vegas, Slc- UT, Kansas. One year later, drove it back to Slc- UT. I can't even imagine choosing to drive those distances in a rental car. |

Just took mine on a 1200 KM drive through the Okanagan. I was debating on using a loaner but I'm happy I didn't. Wish I had better tires though cause I wasn't even pushing it but averaged 150 KM/H. This is my last season with RFT so I can't wait for next year doing the same trip with PSS.
