agreed... i will be doing the same...

sedona red with tints

Shadowline FTW!

^ a dealer pic. my car (before clears). No other chrome on the car, I think chromeline would look out of place. The shadoline works with the dark windows and the other black trim on the car very well IMO. The only thing bad about shadowline is it gets HOT in the summertime, you wont leave your arm on it for very long...

shadowline just looks cheap to me, chrome can be gaudy if used in excess (a la Lincoln), but for the trim it's a good look

I prefer chrome on most cars, but can definitely get behind shadowlne on certain colors like that green M3.

If I had my druthers I'd get the chromeline with the metallic black and sport package 128i.

If I decide to buy a 128i, I'll certainly inquire about having the factory delete shadowline from the sport package. If they won't allow that, no biggie.

I have chrome trim on my S4 and I dislike it ... a lot

I think it looks cheap and ugly (s4 is black)

If an M model car has shadowline, then thats the trim I want!

Shadow line for me, can't stand the chrome on the 3 or 5 series. In the E60 forum, you can't even give away your chrome trim after you install the shadow line. Chrome is too bling bling for a sports coupe, like the 1-series. Why do you think BMW puts shadow trim on the M-cars, it is a sportier look.

But the best of both worlds is the black chrome shadow line trim, not sure if it will be offered on the 1-series though.

Should you be ordering black on black the Shadowline is absolutely mandatory.

But have you seen shadowline up close?

Its not a cheap flat black, its a nice glossy "look at me" black. The finish is top-notch, not cheap...

On the 135i it looks cheap. It also deemphasizes the Hofmeister kink that this car desperately needs. Just my opinion, but the shadowline does not work on the 135i.

Shadowline is very Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and they do it as a cost saving measure. With tints it looks even worse, making the windows look huge and continous. No better way to drop the value of a BMW then shadowline trim. I'm pissed it's on the sports package because I love the sport seats, but not enough to deal with the ugly trim. Hopefully by the time I buy they make it a standalone no cost option like they do with the interior trim. And no black w/ black trim does not say look at me, contrast says look at me. Please take yourself to an art or photography class.

Why not buy the ZSP and then find someone who wants to trade trim? Seems like it would be a pretty easy swap. :iono:

BTW: here's Shadowline on Titanium Silver. I think it looks fantastic.

Chrome screams out, look at me, I am driving a nicer car than you and I want everyone to know it. Shadowline is for people to whom the only pleasure is actually driving. They prefer not to be seen or noticed by anyone, especially law enforcement and have no need to display their wallet size. They are the epitome of class. Chrome on the other hand is for people who need to emphasize to others the vehicle they are driving. They prefer to be seen and known by all around them as high society, but in actuallity they are simply nouveau riche. They are the epitome of gauche.

Equating chrome with class is just silly. It is a trim on a car and no trim can ever give class.

Have you had the opportunity to see the 135i shadowline in person?

Just curious if you saw it at one of the shows, all I've seen are pic's. I'm hoping its a nice gloss finished black like my ZHP, but I guess I honestly wont know until I see one in person...

How does a chrome trimed kink stand out more than a black kink? A kink is a kink, its definatly not Imola Red (my car for example), maybe you are interested in a black car where the kind might blend in with shadowline?
