Rolled Fenders...Thanks M!
Has anyone noticed the fenders are already rolled?
Nice! Thanks M!!! 285 R 265 F ??? I'm going to flip flop my wheels front to back tonight to see if the 10's fit in the front.

A wider tire would definitely be my first mod. Those oe tires are to narrow for the wheels imo.

Great to know, I rolled mine (on my other car) over the weekend, a long DIY (as fenders are aluminum and are soft, hence can crease/warp and you have to keep the paint warm with a heat gun as you go slowly back and forth a few milimieters at a time). While it was 'fun' to do it once, happy to know the 1///M does not need it!
BTW, did the rear wheels fit up front? At a minimum, I'm thinking slapping the rear tires up front (perfectly fine putting 265s on a 9" wheel) and going 285/30 in the rear). PS: do you think there is clearance for say a 10mm spacer?

Post #77 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=528522&page=4 I don't think there's room for 10mm spacer front or rear. I'm going to lower mine before I mess with spacers to see. Look at this pic to see the stock suspension compressed. http://www.simplywireless.org/simplywireless/1mdt.html

Another reason to pay a "premium" for a 1M! When I look up and see no sunroof I think about my rolled fenders and it almost seems worth it. Don't tell any e9x M3 guys about the rolled fenders or suddenly they will all chime in about how they have adjustable suspension, an awesome V8, and a real M car.

I'm probably one of the few guys that likes my sunroof and uses it all the time, I don't mind a bit of added weight if it's my daily driver. Love my idrive too! |

The offset of the rears is really too much to place on the fronts, too bad really, was hoping it could have worked like on my E39 M5 where I was running 275s on all 4 corners and 4 rear rims (fronts required a tiny 3mm spacer to clear my BBK). It also allowed to rotate tires which in a powerful RWD car is huge. But given you can put a 265 tire on a 9" wheel easily, I suppose one can run a square setup if they really insisted on it, despite the wheel width being an inch apart.

Your'e welcome, no trouble really. I was very curious about this.
Although the 265 will fit on a 9" wheel I'd like to see how the sidewall looks compared to the 265 on the 10" wheel. I have a set of 285's that I stuffed on the rear of my Z4 M Coupe (barely) so I may mount them on my rear wheels when the Michelins wear out. At that point I may go with a 265 on the front wheels as I'd like to keep a 20mm difference between front and rear tires. In the first 1000 miles I'm convinced a square setup isn't ideal for the cars handling. I may change my mind once I get on the track but after pushing it through the corners this past week I'm very happy with the balance. It's very neutral and seems to oversteer easier than understeer.

Normally the inside of the fenders look like an L or C shape. 135i fenders look like this: x x x.....x xxxxx 1M fenders are rolled and look like this: x x xx xx When a fender is "rolled" normally someone uses a tool to flatten the inside of the fenders down. A tool like this one... http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=52 |

I agree. But makes me wonder if the rolled fenders and the stretched tires were necessary just to make it even clear with the 10" ZCP's on the back???
