Powerflex now has Black version of inserts and Black version of full bushes, prob 10-20% stiffer than regular Powerflex.

Inserts only, personally I would go Black ( and never go back lol). Some reviews say regular inserts didnt do alot.
Blk Inserts (~100 usd per side, prob 150-200 ish after shipping ) :
(PFR5-419BLK) REAR SUBFRAME FRONT MOUNT INSERT
(PFR5-421BLK) REAR SUBFRAME REAR MOUNTING INSERT

Blk Subframe Bushings:
(PFR5-420BLK) REAR SUBFRAME FRONT MOUNTING BUSH
(PFR5-422BLK) REAR SUBFRAME REAR MOUNTING BUSH

edit:
another cheap mod while you are under the car.
80A or 90A poly bushes for the 12mm rear sway bar, very cheap price & hardest material

EDIT: BUDGET MODE $35 inserts !!! ( Expensive shipping :S)

Its listed here for cheap: http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/cross...ing-49203.html
BUT shipping is expensive via this website to my country, they also have a small list to ship to. Maybe the website blocked the buy button for your area,

Because of this, Whiteline insert is still cheaper. I think the full bushing from Nolathane can be had for slightly cheaper than whiteline.

So, these nolathane crossmember inserts are the same thing as the Whiteline and Powerflex, right?

Nolathane = Whiteline. Nolathane seems to be Aussie only brand, so shipping is expensive and makes only their full bushes reasonable to try to source.

Powerflex is a different company, they offer the most expensive inserts now, the black version which is 95A hard, think shopping cart/skate board wheels with minimal flex. Their yellow version is probably comparable to Whiteline, around 70A, but priced higher.

Keep in mind OEM m3 bushes are around $250-275 or less in some places.

So stoked I stumbled onto this thread! I've always had the M3 bushings on my to-do list, but $45 and an hour in my garage sounds like a MUCH more reasonable alternative. I mean, it's a practically free mod, and if they end up being even half as good as the M3 parts, I call that a win. Ordering these in the AM!

For anyone who's interested, I emailed Whiteline support in Australia today, and they told me that the bushing inserts were 85 duro.

I got the kit from FCP Euro for $44.91. Shipping is free if you choose Economy (10 business day) shipping. Not sure how much their overseas shipping would be. But if you go to Whiteline's website (www.whiteline.com.au), you can find an extensive list of vendors by country.

EDIT: Okay, the vendor I listed above (FCP Euro) went ahead and cancelled my order because they said the item was no longer available. So I looked at a bunch of other sites, and the best deal I could find was from a company called Turn in Concepts. $44.92 with free shipping in the US. As an added bonus, they are also a BimmerPost vendor, and they have a thread on E90Post (from May of this year) advertising Whiteline products, so hopefully this order goes through.

Got my Whiteline inserts installed. Wrote a quick DIY:

Haven't driven the car enough yet to really give impressions. Should be autocrossing it soon.

have a 09 135. So the bushings are probably quite old. Can I still do the insert mod?

So what's the consensus? Powerflex Black vs Powerflex vs Whiteline? I DD my car and track 3/4 times a year, which one should I go for? Thx!

How do the inserts or 2-piece bushings hold up to the track and bad road conditions (potholes, dirt, snow, ice, salt) ?

My 2011 135i is a dual purpose street, and track car. Im thinking about either inserts, or bushings. Are the 2-piece bushings (whiteline or other) much harder to DIY?

Are the Powerflex components more durable, as their price is higher?

Thanks.

Whiteline inserts are back order for 2 months everywhere in North America. Looking for alternative options now. Need your advice. Debating on whether to order:

(1) PFR5-419/PFR5-421 Powerflex yellow inserts should firm up the OEM soft bushings but not as much as other options below. Parts are reasonably affordable and this is an easy DIY.

(2) PFR5-419BLK/PFR5-421BLK Powerflex Black inserts (claimed for racing use), should firm up the OEM soft bushings just perfectly. Parts are reasonably affordable and this is an easy DIY.

(3) PFR5-420/PFR5-422 Full powerflex yellow bushings. Probably more durable and firmer than options 1 and 2. Parts are a little more expensive, and this is reasonable DIY.

(4) BMW E92 M3 bushings. Parts cost about the same as option 3, Difficult DIY, so may need to pay 8 hours labor to a shop.

Im leaning towards option #2, due to ease of installation, reasonable cost, compromise with NVH, and stealthy black color. I want to pull the trigger ASAP, and get these installed before lapping season ends. Hoping to reduce or eliminate the rear end wave, unsettling effect during high speed turns.

Car is dual purpose (track and street).

Want to pull the trigger ASAP, and get these installed before lapping season ends here in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada. Hoping to reduce or eliminate the rear end wave effect during high speed turns.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

We know that M3 bushings does their job very well but they are the most expensive option.
I dont believe you will feel any difference between whiteline and powerflex bushings but I think whitelines are two pieces so it is easier to install.
Somebody mentioned that polyurethane bushings can spin a little which makes them different from oem M3 bushings they are fixed because of the shape.

What are your thoughts on the firmer "black" inserts, using stock 135i rear subframe bushings?

Bummer! Just stumbled across this thread. Was getting ready to order from Powerflex and than the Whileline one's were introduced to me. Though the lower price is appealing (and this is a DD so I don't need ultimate firmness from them, in fact, my spine will probably prefer I don't go super firm, considering the streets in Cali), the idea they are even easier than the Powerflex to install, because each insert comes in two parts sounded perfect for a novice DYI_er like me.

Still tempted by the powerflex, then...

I have a 128i, automatic transmission, non sport, though I bought the OEM sport suspension -- but I think that doesn't change what I oder from powerflex.

If I go with Powerflex, I need the following two items, right?

BMW E8X 1 Series (2008+) Rear Subframe Front Mount Insert
http://powerflexusa.com/bmwe81e82e87...-pfr5-419.aspx
for $83

and

BMW E8X 1 Series (2008+) Rear Subframe Rear Mounting Insert
http://powerflexusa.com/bmwe81e82e87...-pfr5-421.aspx
for $83

right?
