Hi, new 135 owner, looking at performance mods
Hi,
Just bought a 135i and have to say am very impressed by the performance and handling, use to race a two wheeled BMW and have now switched to four wheels. Still have the need for speed and adrenaline, so looking to do some mods and take it to the track. Hoping to meet up with a few of the locals here ( South Qld ) for advice on said mods and the ins and out of tracking the 135. Is there a 135 owners club? Here's a couple a pics . Thanks for looking. |

Nice one mate, if you have a bit of a look on the first few pages you'll more than likely find a bunch of "Mods for my 135i" type posts. Have a look in there.
Best of luck mate. Hope to see you around, next time when the meet isn't in a giant traffic jam (Portside) haha. |

Hey mate. Welcome and nice ride.
We don't have an "owner's club" per se but we do have meetups here and there, now and then... |

Guess I'd better repost
Welcome spunant, we are looking to have more regular meets, especially given how many newer members there are now it's worth looking into joining the BMW club super friendly bunch with regular meets/drive days/cruises/track days, I am in the process of starting up a 1 series register within the club so we can also host 1er specific cruises, tech days, track days etc Agreed with yulook re: mod suggestions FBO +/- meth is really the best bang for your buck powerwise for these cars |

If you are looking to track it, get rid of the run flats if you have not already
Also look into putting in the M3 rear subframe bushes and the M3 control arms. While they wont make you faster in a straight line it will make it a lot nicer and predictable at the limit.

Also, don't wait till redline to change gear, I think optimum is just after 6k rpm. |

Last time i saw a thread with the shifting graphed - tuned/FBO with an aggressive falloff = redline 1st, a bit before redline 2nd (6750 or 6800 or something), and it falls to something like 6500 then 6200-6300 after that. All depends on the specific torque curve. |

My preferred mod path would be wheels/tyres, suspension, brakes and cooling, especially if you're going to be tracking it - are you more interested in straight-line or corners? btw, SG is the best colour!!! |

I think all you need for some more fun are better tires (Michelin PSS), some catted downpipes (AR), BMW PE and of course a tune (flash - Cobb then PROTUNE). A FMIC would help in summer.
As for the launch I would recommending learning on the stock tires before changing out to new rubber. Would advise learning to feather 1st gear to moderate wheelspin if you have manual. It's possible and once you get new, wider tires your times will improve even more. |

Last night at the drags
Thanks again for the replies,
Got out to Willowbank Test n Tune last night but only got in one run due to work commitments and cars dropping oil on the track more than five times,,arrhhh. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the result. Took all the advice given here and got a great run in. Wicked race number too 666 |

Not stock, l cheated. Found a used JB4 on gumtree and hooked it up
before heading out. Made a huge difference. Best part was beating a noisey bad arse looking v8 commodore in the quite subtle looking beema. |

That's the exact time my manual 135 did with a tune only. 13.1@108mph Full bolt Ons & some e85 pumped my mph up to 116mph the last time I went out. Couldn't get a good time though, traction and clutch slipping were my biggest problems. best came out at 12.7 |
