Weird to see this. There is a VO 1M coupe for sale in Portland Oregon. Dealer told me the prior registered owner was Mark Wahlberg. They bought the car at auction. Car was registered in California.
Looks clean only a bit over 5K miles. |

This is a car here in stock now talking with the dealer this past week. I don't think it is the same car. Dealer says prior registered owner was actually Mark Wahlberg, so seems to be, if it is true, his personal car. not the movie car.

Nice Sus! Looks like the first few could have used some proofreading and fact-checking!
Still, excited to see the movie!

"BMW 1M remains one of the most sought BMWs on the used car market and prices are significantly higher than the original MSRP ($47,030). BMW was originally going to release the 1M as a limited production model of 2,700 units. Then due to overwhelming demand, the company lifted the cap and produced a total of 6309 cars until production ended in June 2012. Nevertheless, production of the 1M Coupé stopped in June 2012, with 740 units sold in the US and a further 220 sold in Canada. Total 6309 cars sold worldwide." "Prices for a mint one have been going through the roof due to their driving characteristics and enthusiasts are still waiting for a replacement. Lucky for them, BMW is already working on it and it’s going to be called ‘M2’. Look for it in late 2015." My BMW dealer recently asked me to contact him straightaway if the idea of selling my 1M ever crosses my mind. Clients request him from time to time if he can get hold of one in mint condition. He honestly added that if I'd consider of getting an M2 (not on my radar for now), to keep the 1M anyway.

Someone with the skills should work on building a movie poster that showcases the 1M that we can all display in our garages!!
Maybe something like these...

Review of The Gambler, starring the 1M - Spoiler Alert
Caught this yesterday, and for those wondering whether to plunk down the $12 or so and two hours to watch the 1M on film, I'd say basically, go for it, you won't be disappointed.
Wahlberg's character is a bad-ass, self-destructive gambler - never likable, but never embarrassing either, and his VO 1M is the perfect foil for his style; Smart, crisp dialog, and a great smaller part from John Goodman as one of the loan sharks who stakes him. More importantly though, the 1M is featured just enough to satisfy. No chase scenes or high-performance driving, but it is the star of the opening credit montage, multiple angles and views. It also shows up a couple of more times arriving at destinations. It is also specifically alluded to by one of the characters - "Dude, you have a BMW 1M, how can you be unhappy?" Alas, inevitably, half way through he has to sell the car to get back to the blackjack tables - full on shots of the 1M getting towed away, polished and pristine, with a despondent Marky Mark looking on - he loved that car! The second half is 1M-free, but it held my interest until the end. I haven't seen the original 1974 version, starring James Caan, but I think I'll check it out. |

I saw this movie yesterday and was underwhelmed. The best parts were the driving scenes in 1M. Was not worth the $8 for the ticket though. Only made me want to pull my car out of storage where it has been for the past 2 months.

Saw my car
Saw "The Gambler" and couldn't help telling the guy next to me that I owned that 1M coupe. The car looked great in the opening scenes. Can't believe Paramount paid $15,000 to use it so little. Movie was a little slow but believable.
