I had a rear vew mirror replaced in my old E85 Z4 that was under CPO. They didnt second guess it and just replaced the mirror.

Is it tough to DIY? I just don't want to mess anything up if I were to try and do it myself.
Not tough at all. Just pick up a little vacuum puller like this:
http://www.amazon.com/IIT-51910-Powe...=mirror+puller

Use it on the mirror. If it pops off before the mirror comes off (the mirror is just held on by pressure clips), wet the surface a bit and try again.

Once the mirror pops off, it's just a little plug in the back. It takes literally a few minutes per side.
