Technique for 0-60mph best time

I was wondering if there's a special technique to get better 0-60mph time. How do you do it? redline every gear?

Redline every gear, learn very fast shifting - you really just have to be brutal, warm tyres, smooth road surface, empty as much unecessary stuff out the car - being picky can make all the difference, go on a diet even

The launch is probably more important than anything - minimise wheel spin, maximise torque

For a better 0-60 time, should you disable DTC and/or DSC??

(1) Turn off traction control
(2) Rev to 3-*4000rpm,
(3) release the clutch quickly but not too much.
(4) Wot. Shift at redline.
(5) Enjoy paying a premature clutch replacement.

Take out all the unnecessary junk out of your car and fuel for the run. Do a burn-out to warm up your tires. Do an aggressive launch at 2,500RPM, and feather the clutch smoothly and progressively. Do not shift at redline, but rather just before redline. The best techinique is to add a supercharger though.

My CA told me that one clutch replacement is covered under warranty.

I would say that he's talking out of his ass, my CA told me that the warranty does not cover any wear and tear items, and clutch certainly qualifies as a wear and tear item. Unless you upgraded your warranty?

The warranty doesn't, but the full maintenance program in the US and Puerto Rico does.

Quote:
As part of BMW's complete commitment to your driving pleasure, we include Full Maintenance on every new BMW purchased from any authorized BMW center in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. The BMW Full Maintenance program provides superior service by expert technicians at all authorized BMW centers in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Full Maintenance includes items that need replacement due to normal wear and tear, provided wear and tear exceeds BMW specifications. This includes items such as brake pads, brake rotors, and wiper blade inserts that are not covered by the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Any adjustments required due to normal operating conditions are also included. For exclusions and limitations, refer to the Service and Warranty Information booklet that came with your new BMW or see your authorized BMW center for details.
I am sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry, I meant to say clutch replacement is covered under full maintenance not warranty.

Of course, if you keep doing hard launches with your car, I think that'll be considered abuse.

Start in DS mode, and brake-torque launch it.

If your car has power brakes, you could apply the brake-torquing technique even better. At the starting line, shift your auto gearbox into neutral and floor the brake pedal with your left foot. Rev the engine once and quickly get off the throttle. You will feel the brake pedal sink further to the floor. This greatly increases the braking force. Now shift back into gear. You will now be able to rev up the engine even higher against the torque converter.

What's not to understand? It's pretty straightforward. Switching to neutral first and making the brake pedal go further down by revving the engine, allows an increased load on the torque converter, resulting in a harder launch.

Why do you want a good 0-60 time? It's a standard metric used to compare cars, but in the real world it has no context.

How are you even measuring time? If you're using the speedo, you're already off in accuracy.
