More dust and more noise. DS2500 is more or less a severe duty street and light track day pad.
Stoptech Street Performance is a much better replacement when noise and dust are of concern. |

How would the stoptech compare to the factory 1M pads for track day use, similar or slight improvement?

Has anyone used Hawk HPS or HP+ on the 1M?
I used both of these on my RX-8 and had pretty good luck with them. One benefit was that the pad material was similar enough between them that I did not have to bed them in when switching from HPS (street) to HP+ for track days and vice versa. It looks like they are available for us. Edit: I am on street tires, consider myself intermediate driver. Last edited by CarJunkie; 03-07-2015 at 12:07 PM.. |

Carbotech XP12's/10's all round and HEL brake lines work well on road and track for me.

I have used DS2500s for street/track on every car since I discovered them and they have been perfect for me - EXCEPT for the 1M with OE discs.
Its almost like the disc material is too hard for them, they were noisy on the road and pretty much melted on the track. I stuck in a set of cheap Eurocarparts Pagids just to keep it running and they've probably been the best set of pads I've tried yet! Planning to change out the OE discs for Performance Friction when I manage to get my hands on some. |

A side note. Does anyone have any experience with Hawks new StreetRace compound? Guess they made it to compete with Carbotech AX6. Supposed to be a street compound that is more track friendly. Good up to 1200 F.

One nice thing about ALL Hawk brake compounds is they are all compatible with each other, so you can swap between them all without having to change rotors. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 05-21-2015 at 07:23 AM.. |

OP: I dont know if PFC produces the PFC08 compound for the E82/1M, but they are phenomenal on the E8x/135i as a dual duty pad. The pads resist track abuse pretty well, last for a long time, and are almost silent on the street, with a minimal and occasional subtle squeak.
I unfortunately had to move to a more heat tolerant pad because my E82/135i makes a lot of power now, and I use Ti shields to protect my calipers pistons, which keeps more heat in the pad and makes it fade more quickly. This occurs even with cooling ducts attached to the brake dust shields. The ProjectMu Club Racer pads I run now are noisier on the street, but are fade-free and predictable at the track. Next up, I might try "fade-free" pads in the same heat range (limit of 800*Celcius or more) once my PMU CR09 pads are done. Pagid RS-29, or Endless ME20 come to mind ... See this awesome and thourough article on choosing the proper brake pads for your intended use - a must read ... http://www.essexparts.com/learning-c...ose-brake-pads

I have a set F/R of PFCs if anyone is interested? They only have 2 events on them with lots of pad left. I no longer have my 1M but I did like them a lot.

I'm running Project Mu HC+, love them.
Braking power cold is ok, hot is crazy. But they do make noise. A lot.
