Why go for that over an aftermarket unit?

I wasn't planning on it. We were talking about why the 1er didn't get a LSD and he told me the m235i LSD would fit. Just sharing!

Ah, good. Given that it will be worse than the M unit by design, much like our subframe bushings, I can't imagine seeing it as a choice compared to proper aftermarket units that don't have such considerations.
