Do you find it odd that the OEM muffler is a bit louder @ max than the Akra closed? Maybe the Akra is designed to achieve that. Just not what I would have expected...

I almost want to say at cruising speeds the cabin seems quieter now. My 135 with Borla exhaust and straight mids was MUCH louder than this (Akra completely open/straight mid) set up.

I took some readings with a decibel meter for comparison. Keep in mind the Akra has zero miles on it so it still needs to break in. I will update the "open" numbers when I get more miles on the system. I cannot update the closed numbers since the plate has been removed, BUT Maybe its safe to assume the delta on the open numbers would translate over to the closed numbers (im not sure).

N55 midpipe with a Y pipe (RESONATOR DELETE) and OEM muffler

Idle: 85.0 Max: 105.9

Midpipe form above with Akra closed system

Idle: 90.1 Max: 104.3

Midpipe above with Akra plate cut out for full time open system

Idle:92.6 Max: 109.9

Also, I dont notice any issue with alignment. I havent installed tips yet since I didnt buy the Akra tips. Once I find what I want I will comment on alignment.

Are these cabin sound pressure readings or behind the car?

I did find it odd at first but the OEM muffler had almost 6k miles on it while the Akra had 10 secs of runtime on it. I would think once it was broken in it would open up a bit.

The Akra is harder to get readings on because the thing pops and that spikes the decibels.

I will take more readings as I get some miles on the system.

Bought it new without tips. I think I have noticed the titanium tips begin to yellow on other people's cars. I didnt want to spend 13-1400 dollars and have them yellow. Plus I really want black tips.

I started with an N55 too.

For the record, the Akrapovic 1M exhaust is NOT available without the tips.

The OEM exhaust is too quiet if you don't accelerate hard and that is not the best way to get attention in many situations. Meaning in suburban areas etc. So for me the combo is what do make the whole deal interesting. I would not go for any exhaust where its always loud. Not the right profile for me. Close to 40 years old and family. We all have different profiles and needs at different times in life. If you asked me the same 10 years ago I would have said loud always! ;-)
+10.

Non-smoker but deliberately did not opt out for the "Smoke Pack" (code 441) for my 1M.

Definitely not regretting that choice, because today I got me an alternative cigarette lighter (easily reachable at arm's length) and some lengthy device with "N55" indicated on the label/sticker.

Do I like my new cigarette lighter ? Well, if the clip below features "The Akra Man" then I'm a kind of Charlie today.
(note: if the fine deephouse track accompanying the video ain't your cup of tea, then start from 03:29 onwards for summery funky sounds).

Let me get this straight... so you do not need the wireless kit to be in "Red" or "Thunder Mode" it will stay in the mode all the time?!? I too would rather have full force all the time, and do not NEED to tone it down. I thought you needed the wireless kit to have access to that louder setting? Is that not the case? If that is truly the case it knocks off an unnecessary $850 - $1000 the total price!
