n55 exhausts? berk race/street or other?
hello,
Im based in the UK and having trouble trying to find many exhausts available for the 135i. Im looking for something thats fairly loud but with dct i really dont want something that is going to drone? is the berk street my best bet? or with just a race axel back will it drone? its probably work mentioning that i am only looking to change the axel back at this time then down pipe at a later date. Cheers Rampo |

Hello 135ramp,
Berk street is a great axle back system. It will cause zero drone. If you are looking for an axle back system, why not look into the BMW Performance exhaust. It's a nice sounding system, not to loud, zero drone. Another one you can look into is Agency Power and Corsa. Hope this helps! -Alex

The berk street will be quieter than the PE exhaust, but it has a much lower/deeper tone to it. I personally prefer the stock muffler or PE muffler over the berk street. If you plan to keep the stock cat and resonator in place I say go with the berk race. Sounds much better IMO

With stock DP, and Resonator, Berk Race. With Catless DP and Res Delete, Berk Street or something custom.

I ran BMS DP, stock resonator and Berk race for a while and the drone was pretty bad. After many different setups I ended up with the DP, resonator delete and stock muffler. It sounds wonderful. Same setup with a PE muffler is just barely any louder, but still no drone and the sound is even more glorious.

BMWP on a DCT has drone unless you keep the revs up.

Hmm. That's unfortunate about the drone. The PE (w/res-delete Y-pipe) on my N55 manual doesn't drone. I guess the DCT sits at a less-than ideal RPM range during cruise speeds?
When I got my car with the PE pre-installed, I expected to not like it and want to change it out immediately. I, however, found that I really like it. Tastefully quiet when you want it so, and lovely sound when you get on it. The only downside is that it is loud on cold start. I don't mind, but my GF thinks it sounds like a teenager's car on cold start. I secretly love it.

kinda. The original owner paid $1200 USD for the BMW PE. FWIW, it isn't just an axle-back, it does come with a mid-section that deleted the resonator (and secondary cat if you are running N54).

Considering where the Euro is now vs the Dollar I'd try and source a BMW PE Exhaust.

Why are you trying so hard to sell the AA Gen I's? I've seen you in more than one thread now trying to sell these when it's not necessarily the best option for the OP.

its not like AA is the only brand we offer and im just trying to make a sale. We offer 19 different 135i exhausts. I gave OP my honest opinion about the best exhaust for him based on his preference ( if he had asked for the loudest 135 exhaust, i would have recommended something else) You will see me recommending the AA 135 exhaust Gen I in every thread when guys are asking for an exhaust that offers a good combo between loud / good daily driver because in my opinion this exhaust does exactly what OP is asking for. we are all entitled to our opinion and can recommend the exhaust that we think fits OP's needs . im not sure why you are bothered by me giving an opinion in this thread or any other thread ?
