They saved my ass once, I will -if possible- not drive without RFT. I am super happy with mine, both winter and summer.
Just my .02....

I'm in the same boat: as bad as the RFTs are, walking from a flat would be worse.

My '09 135i is soon to come due on tires. I've been watching for several years for the 3g RFTs in the OEM sizes (215/40R18 front, 245/35R18 rear). Still No Joy.

On TireRack I see three choices of RFT in the necessary sizes:
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT
Pirelli PZero RFT
Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST

Aside from the ride of railroad wheels and uselessness on snow, the only issue I have with the RE050As is poor tread life.

Is there a consensus selection in these three choices? If I make it to, say, summer, what are the odds the Bridgestone 3Gs will show up "in my size"?

From a fellow 135 owner that's had all 3 brands fitted at some point, the Pirelli's seem to offer the most compliant ride of the 3 makes, and arn't as 'stiff' as the Bridgestones or Dunlops.

Thanks for the data point. Interestingly enough, that's the cheapest--not to say cheap--set of the three here in the US via tirerack.com.

Thanks for the comparative opinion. It's good to know for the future about the Pirellis.
My '12 came with Dunlops stock, and while still way rougher than regular tires, I don't find them to be extremely unpleasant. However I don't have the older Bridgestones to compare to.
