Once they figure out a way to clone me (God help y'all! ) then we're game. Until then I'll be more than happy to pilot my S against an E90 6MT on the track and switch places for a comparitive baseline...

I had a 2000 S2000 for 5 years. Not a practical daily driver for me but a lot of fun on the weekends and summer. The 330i with sports package is not as tight a road feel but much more fun to drive every day because of all the luxury features and electronic toys. Even boring commutes are fun in the E90.

I think the S2000 stands for the year it was first introduced... in 2000...

hehe, yep. I raced a C4 'vette once in my 944. I believe the only reason I kept up with him was a combination of A: his shifting was (*AHEM*) lacking, and B: he was toying with me a bit. I suspect you'd be in a similar boat.

Just think of it this way though, only in your car could you be carrying your wife, kid, and some luggage. That's simply not happening in the S2K.

S2000 originally made about 240 horsies from a 2000 cc engine. They increased the size to 2.2L to increase the torque to satisfy those who wanted more torque, but the HP remains around 237 or so. It has a very sweet short throw shifter that was precise. A near 50 /50 weight ratio, and the rear was easy to break loose, as it had no traction control till 06. It's very loud after 6500 rpm when VTEC kicks in. It's often compared to a motorcycle since you can redline it at around 9000rpm.

The S2000 is a nice car. I was obsessed with it until the wife said we had to get a 4 door for practical reasons, which is why I got a E90 330i instead

If I have some extra money I'd get a 02-03. I'd still love to experience the 9000k engine!

Practical? My buddy and I were able to fit two sets of golf clubs in his S2000. Granted... we had to smash and pack 'em. Hahaha... But if you can pack two sets of clubs and drive to the golf course, top down and in record time, that sounds plenty practical to me.

Everyone,

My S IS my DAILY DRIVER!! I don't like lugging a bunch of passengers around so my S is perfect. The seats are slim and very tight so if you don't have the right body type you won't fit. Works as an equalizer for other things...

My E90 is my family car to lug the kids in but my S is certainly "dad's" car! :rocks:

VTEC engages at 6200 rpm out of the factory however people use various controllers to engage VTEC earlier. The S is really as close you can get to a motorcycle on 4 wheels.

s2ks can beat rexies so a 325 is dessert to them but the s2k will require the driving if you know what i mean.

hi katsbimmer, ever tried to bet on a chi hua hua vs a pitbull in a fighting contest? your step 325i has no chance against a s2000. century sprint time 2.2 sec apart. kinda like racing an e90 320i manual and an e90 325i manual. would not even bother to take it on at all. if u had tried , u would have been thoroughly humiliated and then get a earful from your wife. if u had a new e90 335i, u could have a fair chance of taking him on.
