Trading in 1er for E39 M5

I know it's a short and sudden notice, but I'm trading down (or up, depending on how you look at it) for a 2000 E39 M5. I know it's weird, but I always loved the look of the E39. Going to get a pre-purchase inspection tomorrow at Murray. Wish me luck!

Here is the picture I took outside of Murray for it's pre-purchase inspection. Bought it today, got some things to fix, but nothing in the extreme.

It's too bad that you got rid of the 1, but, how's the S62 working out? 400hp, 7k rev-limit, correct?

Is it tough switching from forced induction to naturally aspirated at our altitude?

You'll have to bring it to the meeting where Jason tells us all about the 1M Coupe!

I just came out of an e39 m5 to get my 135i. Maintenance costs on that car are pretty high

I'll definitely try to swing by when Jason comes back. Butt dyno can definitely feel the difference in power delivery, but damn, every time I open up the beast, it's a completely different world; the sound of the V8 from the factory exhaust is intoxicating! The M5 definitely keeps me in check, though, as power is more linear without the pre-built boost from the turbines.

One of the primary reasons why I sold the 1er for a ten year old car is because I've always enjoyed the look of the third gen M5. Before I dove into it, I knew it was a high maintenance vehicle. Even though this car was maintained quite well by the previous owner, it's already running up a small bill. BUT, I only turn 30 once, so I treated myself to this car. Recovered close to 10k in equity from the trade too; this is going to be fun!

I have a bit of experience in maintenance, so I can handle basic to intermediate repairs.

Edit: found the M5 (and probably M cars in general) handle so much more neutral and solid. Without modifications and its inherent design, the 1er tends to roll much more. I can't wait until Jason's review on the 1M!

Hi Cris,
Did you trade your 135i in at Rocky mountain euro sport for your M5? If so I think I purchased your old 135i. If you are the previous owner of the car (alpine white 2009 135i) lemme know.
Thanks,
Sean
