Well I have received my ECU and re-installed it this morning. Fedex arent great for living up to the idea of 'priority' unless you complain (many times).
First impressions, hard to tell. I have only just driven it to work today and it started with no issues (except for the windows because the battery had been disconnected). It reved a bit when i hit start but apart from that it was as per usual. It does feel like it has more torque and much sooner. Normally it seems to not pull much until 4500 but now it seems to happen at 2800-3000. the throttle response is certainly different and am i not used to it. I am certainly wanting to test this against others. Also, can anyone recommend a workshop for a dyno? I would really need to confirm what they have done. I dont have "before" figures but I am certain that it wouldnt be 200-ish kw and 330nm. I havent got that gtech yet, but would that be accurate for power figures as well or just for 0-100? |

congrats! looks like it was well worth the effort.
imo there are too many variables for it to be an accurate judge of horsepower. at the very best, the estimated output figures can only be used on a comparative basis at the same time, place and type of car... |

Strangely, I never felt worried.
But what does worry me is that the tune isnt as good as they said. I still have to pay the remaining 50% upon receipt of my ecu back, but I would like to get a dyno before just to confirm. |

Ive tested mine before vs a dyno and they have been within 3kW of each other. That said, dyno is always the way to go if you can.

You didn't do before dyno so there's no point in doing an after. Glad to hear the ECU made it back safely!

Theres no way that my car would make more than 165kw at the crank before, but this tune supposedly now gives me 200-205kw. Dont you think its worth verifying?

You don't know how much your car made before. You can dyno someone else's 125 with the same tranny on the same machine to get a decent idea, but no two cars are the same.

Met up with Drawn05 today and did some 0-100 tests with his gtech unit which somehow managed to arrive in time
Both cars are 125i with auto trans, 19k kms on the clock, sunroof, about the same amount of fuel, same weight driver. My car was totally stock. Drawn05 has BMW performance intake, exhaust, brakes, PBX (throttle remap only) and of course the Digi-Tec ECU tune. According to my sketchy memory, this is how we went: My 3 best times were: 7.16, 7.17, 7.2x. Drawn05 managed: 5.74, 6.01, 6.1x Some excel number-churning of acceleration force vs power/weight of the 125i and 135i puts the Digi-Tec tune at around 190kW (less whatever the intake/exhaust gives.) Excellent result! And thanks to Drawn05 for being the first one with enough guts to prove that we can get 130i power levels without messing with the manifold. p.s. performance exhaust on a 125i sounds mad |
