Good choice. If you are ever bored check out www.saabnet.com. You'll find some amusing stories of engine sludge, failed engine managment systems and many other common problems. The folks over there tend to rationalize why their cars are great (and I happy they are enjoying them) but if you look at it objectively, the problems clearly outweigh the benefits.

Get the 325xiT. Saab is GM - 'nuff said.

I am considering the Saab 9-3 Aero Sedan due to the seat comfort, uniqueness of the brand, overall exterior shape and interior color/comfort, and front wheel drive for the snow. (wouldn't have to buy an xtra set of rims)

Can anybody here give a less biased/slanted view on this car aside from the fact that it doesn't drive like a BMW--which I know it doesn't. I'm split in half between the two--9-3 Aero/325i w/ ZSP and am trying to make an educated decision. I don't want to regret my purchase 8 years down the road. .

If you drove both, and both where a manual, how can you compare the two? The saabs stick shift is not a class act.

saab stick is sloppy vs. bmw, power was ok with tubro, nothing great. Ride was smoother but my 325 has sport package... there were some good things about the saab, dont get me wrong. Also, I paid 25k with my discount on a 31k saab... so I cant complain..

I have two friends who live in Saab service, because this stuff keep breaking...

Saab would be my last choice...

Based on looks alone I would go with the BMW. That Saab is hideous. Those back lights have got to go.

Uniquesness of brand, not to sure what is unique about Saab, they are owned by GM.

If you are really woried about the snow, you can always get the AWD car (costs the same as the RWD + a full set of snow tires and rims).

I think you already answered your question... It doesn't drive like a BMW. Everyone here is going to say that, and for most that would be the deal breaker.
