BMWhat users: help getting them to code out TPMS
Hi,
I put on my winter tires that do not have TPMS and get the dumb dashboard light. I contacted ivini (the makers of BMWhat) to see if they could add support to enable/disable TPMS and they got back to me promptly that it is on their todo list, but they want more people to ask for it before they actually work on it. If you too are tired of seeing the dash light for TPMS, could you send a line to http://www.ivini-apps.com/contact.html to let them know? Thanks! |

I have asked for it too. I am definitely getting tired of the additional 2 chimes, warnings and dashboard light.

e36addict>> i do not have a JB4 yet. I did not know it could do that. It is on my buy list for next year
MightyMouse >> agree sensors are useful. I don't have them though, and it would be over $300 to buy them and get them mounted, so I just check my tire pressure weekly. |

When coded out, the system instead changes to RDC which uses wheel speed variance to detect pressure loss. Not to mention that the lithiums in the TPMS will eventually fail. At $50 per wheel, I would rather just code it.

I have a Canadian car, which only uses the wheel speed variance to detect a low wheel. System is not very accurate. Couple days ago, the car told me all four tires were low at the same time. All four were good. Not sure what that was about. Had to reset again.

I find the system constantly does that when it is cold. Hence my lack of desire to pay extra for monitors for winter wheels.
Hopefully some of you have sent requests to bmwhat |

It does that when it's cold because relative PSI changes when it gets cold. On sensors it is actually accurate.

It was weird. Pressure only dropped by 1 PSI due to temperature. And all FOUR popped up at the same time. There is nothing to compare to when all four come up. I actually wish I had a system that used sensors.

here is the list of what can be coded:
http://www.ivini-apps.com/coding.html Also, outside of coding, it can read BMW specific error codes and clear them. For example, I had an airbag error due to a seat swap, and I cleared it and it went away permanently. I can clear the TPMS error and the light is removed from the dash, but then it comes back when the BMW discovers yet again that the sensors are not present. |

I'm still waiting for them to add the i-drive disclaimer removal, and for the 32 degrees warning to actually work. They have the option to disable the cold weather warning, but on my car with it coded on or off I still get the chimes :/

The menu has an option to code a battery. I have never used it since my battery is fine. It is under an "apps" section of the app. Perhaps they charge extra to code the battery? I'm not sure, but still less than a dealer.

You can only code the battery with the android version of the app. I also tried to code out the 37 degree temp warning with no success.
I am happy with the app so far. They haven't released an update for the iPhone app for some time - hoping soon .

I have the iPhone. That's the issue then. I was hoping for a few more coding options. Should've looked into it a bit more before I purchased the app and adaptor. |
