1M prices
So I had been thinking about upgrading to a 1M.
On the way to work this morning I said to myself halfway into my 15 minute journey, if I see a 1M (which I never do) I should buy one. A couple of minutes later I see a white 1M a dozen or so cars in front. I eventually end up behind it and later next to it. Mind made up. Thanks CXT75Y. Anyone care to PM the real prices these things are selling or trading in for? There are plenty of them on carsales with mid-20's kms asking about $80-85,000 but none of them seem to move. Also, any views on whether we will seek a big drop in 1M prices when: 1. the M2 is announced; or 2. the M2 is released. Would also help to know what 135i's are selling/trading in for. Mine is 2008 with about 73,000km on the clock, unmodified. Am thinking though of giving it to my wife and selling her car, although not sure I could face meticulously caring for two cars... Finally, are there any differences between 2011 and 2012 1M's? Any advice much appreciated |

I don't think you will see any big price drop, the only 1M's that seem to be reasonably priced generally have over 70-80k km's - not ideal IMO

Agreed. I am thinking no more than mid-20's kms. Given I only drive about 3-4,000kms a year it should therefore stay low kms for a while.

Come to think of it..i remember reading someone said they had an updated version of the front fender lining on their 1M which came with the car. This was in the US.
So unsure if they updated the fender lining on later production models of 1M. Basically people were having rubbing issues when they got bigger tyres compared to stock because of the front fender lining and BMW updated them and people in the US could change them to the new version under warranty |

Trade value for a 2012 1M is around 68k for a car with less than 30k kms on the odo. You could expect retail and private value to be at least 75k, depending on the car.
For the right car you'll forget what you paid for it soon after and start enjoying the experience. |

The value of the AUD and the cars price in the UK also has a bearing on what they will sell for here too. They are a cult car in the UK and sell for over 40k Pounds all day. Thats currently $86k AUD
If there was a large price gap between the UK and here you would see 1M's heading over there from here. I bought mine with 24k kms on it last Nov and it now has 36k kms. Such an awesome car and i've had some nice ones before. I wont be selling for a long time. Just buy one |

..the ones with the higher mileage will probably have had their waterpump/HPFP/injectors/coils etc replaced already perhaps... and a car that's driven more is usually more healthy in my opinion

straya has gotta be a bargain market for 1M's with alot per capita sold, low 70's or high 60's is still excellent money for the seller of a 4 year old car so bargain hard. i'm still hanging onto mine, just, the tail happy nature of the car is just so addictive. if you are after a 1M why not look for a, okay hard to find, manual M4, that would be a tail happy beast too and much quicker

I guess you need to define what you meant by looked after. Some cars may looked immaculate on the outside, but that doesn't mean anything.

What your suggesting is exactly what I'm referring to as looked after. I have seen some that were immaculate and very low klms but sloppily gearshift, and other signs meant it had not been looked after. Unfortunately that seems to be an issue with the 1M. I think some of them get used for Tarmac events and then sold off as low klms.
