M3 Steering wheel on a 2013 DCT 135?

I've searched the forums but didn't see any topics on someone successfully doing this to a 2013 1er with DCT. I called my BMW dealer here in los angeles, they said they could do it but would need the part number for right M3 wheel. Anyone know what M3 Wheel/Part number is the right one?

Second part: My leather is cracking hence the replacement...could i use the warranty to pay for the M3 wheel? Dealer is saying no, but the only difference is the stitching....

The leather is already cracking - WTF?

There's either cut outs or no cut outs on the back of the steering wheel. As long as it has the cut outs (DCT) it should work fine. I'm not surprised the dealer won't do that. I upgraded my M-sport wheel to an M3 wheel, it is highly recommended!

they want 700 for the steering seems like a bit much for some stitching. *pulls out crayons to color stitching*

Look on the M3 forum for sale section. Eventually you'll find a nice wheel for $300 to $350 and swap it out yourself...it's really easy.

I thought the M3 DCT paddles and the 135i DCT paddles were not compatible. Is it really possible to do this swap? Is there a link to a DIY?

I did it to my 135i a couple of years ago. One of my favourite mods... M3 wheel feels SO much nicer.

Brilliant.....I was just coming on here to post the same question, as I want to fit the M3 wheel to my DCT 135.

Harlequin, are those the OEM 135i paddles you refitted to the M3 wheel or are they M3 paddles......?

OEM 135i Paddles. The hardest part is disconnecting the paddle wiring from the harness for the buttons...

Many have tried... All have failed...

...you can get them to work with the Steptronic in the older N54 model but no one has managed to retrofit them to the DCT box...

If someone could make them work or even offer "better" paddles that work with the 135i's DCT switches I'd be all over it. It seems the problem is that the M3 DCT switches are modular where the 135i DCT switches are not.

E82 switches only.

You can definitely swap M3 paddles for the OEM paddles on the N54 Steptronics. I did mine and then got the Alpina TCU flash. My car shifts almost as fast as the DCT now and the M3 paddles are much easier to use than the OEM paddles.

Sorry you DCT guys can't make a direct switch to the M3 paddles They are nice.
