How bad is the sun for your leather interior?

During my lunch hour I like to lay out with the sunroof open to get some color... But the leather is also exposed to the sun. Is this pretty bad for the leather or not really a problem?

Yes the sun will dry your leather out and eventually it will discolor and crack. A good leather conditioner and window tint will help protect it.

yea, the uv alone will do some damage. won't only discolor the leather, but other interior parts as well. even a light tint will help out.

not only is it harmful to your leather, it is harmful to your skin if you have too much sun exposure.

condition condition condition, your leather that is- and also your skin unless you plan on having it look like leather when you're 50. Seriously, condition the leather at least 2x per year and don't tan too much...

OEM sunshade

I've got the OEM sunshade and it's amazing...there are corvettes in the parking lot that have crappy wal-mart visors that don't fit right...looks like crap. The OEM visor works great and takes 5 seconds to install. No window tint yet, but this definitely keeps the dash and steering wheel cool. I'm in southern GA by the way.

I'm to lazy to organize it, but I would be in for it.

Yeah but you wind up making out ok because a tank of gas costs as little as a bottle of spring water.

I get in and out of my car so often that it'd be a big pain in the butt if I had to open and setup a windshield shade everything I got out of the car. An automatic front window shade, like what you can get for the rear, would be very nice though!!

I walked over to my local 99 cent store and picked up a sunshade for my BMW. It fits PERFECTLY, and is the type you can twist and tuck. I know, I know... I'm pretty cheap, but it looks perfect.

I have what I think aphall is talking about. I got mine from Brookstone years ago. It really does a good job of shading. my old car sat in New Mexico deserts for 3 years with this in the windscreen, and the interior did not suffer.
