Lamin-x Tail Light Tint + Headlights Sheet Size?

Hey guys

Got a AW 'vert here and want to smoke my tail lights and head lights with smoked colour lamin-x.

Is that the colour found here?

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=53
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...41&postcount=7

Anyways, i've heard the pre-cut lamin-x sheets for our coupe's/verts are pretty crap, so wanted to buy the bulk sheets and cut out sheets that will fit each tail light from there..

What size sheets and how many do I need to buy for the tail lights and headlights?

What size did you guys that have lamin-x'd your tails/headlights buy?

Would really appreciate the help as here in South Africa I've only found 50cmx30cm (20" x 12") which is too small

Thanks!

Hey there,

That is the dark smoke tint film we offer. For the headlights, I recommend going light smoke to avoid visibility problems, you can do dark for the rear tails however.

We sell it precut and have never had a problem with fitment or application, in fact the first link was a set of headlights with precut film. I don't see the reason to go through the hassle of cutting yourself when we offer it precut. With that said, we do offer bulk film if you need.

Hey Nick

Thanks for the reply.

Thing is, I wan't to cut out the clear parts of the light exactly as such:

want it looking JUST like this --> http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...42&postcount=2

these are also the same as far as i can tell:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211602
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=38

Could I just cut out the clear part with a razor?

On your product page I couldn't find a link to the dark smoked tail lights, only the light smoke..

Thanks!
I think the product description is just wrong, the one with product code ending in "D1" is the dark smoke and the "L1" is the light smoke for all of the other vehicle's tint.

Im also curious about the look of the light smoke taillights on a JB 1'er...I dont want to go with the dark smoke because I want some kind of contrast, but will the light smoke be too light?

From the look on the headlight, it seems to be very light, and the dark is very dark...nothing inbetween? Do you know if the light smoke is similar to the Lamin-x "gunsmoked" color?

Also, does anyone know if the Lamin-x covers the clear section, I wouldnt want that covered, same as aacabriolet but would want to order through Nick

We don't offer them precut for the clear part but you can easily do it with an exacto knife or scissors.

@3onDubs: I've asked at local tint shops but they say their tint is designed to stick on glass and not plastic/curves.

But I see some guys in the US have had some luck with a different type of tint at their local tint shops. We don't have that here

Yeah, I've had them offer to tint my tails at a couple tint shops in the past.

This member says his tails are painted...wonder how that works:

I think he is referring to the spray on tint you get..

I'd much rather go for a film like lamin-x personally instead of going to the hassle of sanding, priming etc. And the film is obviously removable too.

very true....I might pick up the film and see if I can have it cut and installed at a tint ship.
