Sheep skin seat covers

Anyone have sheep skin seat covers? Did a search but came up with nothing. Interested to hear comments from anyone having them.

Going to run your car as a minicab?

I would be very cautious using any kind of seat cover on a car with side airbags.

+1.

The only covers that should be used would be ones that only cover the seating area and not the side bolsters, which are where the airbags are located.

My dad used to use them in all of his benz cars when I was a kid. Haven't seen it on a newer car in like 15 years lol

BMW actually manufactured sheepskin seat covers for the 1 series if you google with images you will find them.

It's funny. I owned many BMWs in the past, and my favorite was my 1987 325is. It was red, and it was beautiful. I bought this 128i because it was the first BMW that had interested me in many years, although I did have a few more in between. The thought of sheep skin covers really brings back memories. I did get the Coco Mats for my 128i, requisite for all German cars back in the 1980s. Now you have me thinking, should I go all the way and get the sheep skin seat covers too? Thanks for bringing back memories.

Funny - Cold rainy evening in Nova Scotia, and getting into the car after a Costco run made me comment to my wife that we need sheepskin covers in the winter. Leatherette feels much colder than real leather for some reason. Thankfully the heated seats warm up after only 30 secs..

Martin, I probably have you beat for living in the cold, if you can believe that.

I only drive my car during the summer, but here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan it is often 40 F (5 C) outside in the morning. We even had frost warnings just the other day as some wind was blowing down from Canada and across the Big Lake. And, its almost July!

Alas, I do not have seat heaters. Those sheep skin covers are sounding better all the time!

Ha - we should start a first world problems thread.

I like the look of those "Marino" -so fancy sheepskins. I also like how you can get the armrest cover too.

$1000 after tax/exchange-rate/shipping, is tough to swallow though.

Are you going to order them?

Since my car is a "warm" weather only vehicle, I think I will hold off for the time being. I have a couple of other projects waiting in my shop.

But, it might be nice for my wife's X5, especially during the winter. My '87 325is was a daily driver, which I drove in the winter as well. I definitely liked the sheepskin covers, and they somehow fit well in that era.

While my 128i does remind me of my 325is - the reason I bought it - it is definitely more of a modern interpretation. Sheepskin would definitely stand out in juxtaposition to carbon fiber and aluminium accents; quite avant garde for the 1 series!

We could start a new, old trend! Whoever buys them first, please be sure to post some pictures!

You guys are making me all nostalgic for my 1968 VW "Bug" that I bought used when I was 18. What a classic.

I just received my latest issue of Grassroots Motorsports, and the cover story is "Best Cars of the 80s". I am getting nostalgic too, and thinking more and more about putting in sheepskin covers in my 128i. Everything old is new again!

Should I be the first?

Ha, I put sheepskin seat covers in my 1980 Volvo 242 just to be super 80's! Not sure I'd do the e82 though..
