my car is broke... again... worse...

A few weeks ago i had a real strange noise coming from my engine, and it got worse when i turned the wheel. eventually my power steering wasnt working properly and it was pretty hard to turn the wheel. i took the car in and they found a leak in a hose from the power steering, replaced it, and it was fine.
Started yesterday my car was doing the same thing, but i just drove it and its 0984 times worse. Its basically impossible to turn the wheel a half turn. making driving very difficuly. HOPEFULLY the dealership is back open because it was closed a while due to the hurricane.
i will give an update tomorrow.

Thank fully this doesn't sound like a common problem, so they should be able to fix it for good.

Hope your baby gets well soon!

Know how you feel, I had a 2000 323 that was leaking power steering fluid from the area where the hose is connected to the fluid container. Everytime I turned, I hear this grinding sound. I drove the car like that for a month because I was too lazy to bring it in and did not want to hear about the cost of fixing it (car out of warantee). I was lucky I did not damage the pump by holding out. You could damage the pump if you don't get it fix. But sound like you are on top of it. Good luck!

holy crap. i went to the dealership this morning. they STILL didnt have power because of hurricane wilma(8 days later). they are running the dealership on this HUGE generators. they are working silly hours to conserve them. they had NO LOANER cars or rental cars. i guess a bunch of them got damaged because of the hurricane and then the rest are out because peoples cars whos got damaged have them in the shop and have the loaner cars.
so i left my car there, and 5 hours later i called to check on it, and they hadnt even started it yet!!! they said the power kept kicking on and off, and blah blah blah.
they good news is!!! they are doing the software update while its there. they said that takes 6 hours.
i will give you guys an update tomorrow. im wayyyy bummed.

Hey CD, what a drag! Is the dealership far from your home and biz? Must be brutal for the dealership trying to work like that!

The good news is, you're going to love the software update!!!

Sorry to hear that it is a shame for a new car but nevertheless steerinh hose leaking fluid can be fixed fairly easily based on my once experienced that on my ex E320.

cdheaven,

The main thing is that your service facility is not deliberately messing you around. I have no doubt that they too are under a lot of stress and it is just such bad timing on both your parts.

I have to say that you will need to muster up all your patience, which I'm sure you already know you need and just wait for them to fix the car properly.

Do not misunderstand me but every time you call them, you take away the precious time they have to get through all of the cars that need equal, urgent attention. Please stay calm and patient because it is no use demanding the car back only to discover that it has not been fixed properly. I know it is easy for me to say this to you thousands of kilometres away but short of taking you car to another dealership that seems to be too far away, knowing what we all know, it is up to them to fix the car in as stress free an environment as possible.

Again, I tell you this because as an outsider, I may have a different view of your unfortunate situation for which there is not an easy and pain free solution. Please take this as a calming post that hopefully will help you as much as it can.

You know, I discuss many posts with my wife and we both feel dissapointed for everyone who has a problem with their car and hope that all will be fixed as soon as possible.

I do not know if you were directly affected by the recent hurricanes but we trust that you and your family are ok. That is the most important.

All the best cd.

David. thanks for the long post. i agree with 100%. im trying to take it as easy as possible. like when my service advisor called to tell me they didnt even start it yet, i could hear in his voice he was like scared i was gonna freak out and scream, but i didnt, i told him i understood, and just to keep me updated. so, sorry guys if i came across in my posts as aggravated or anything. cause i really am not making a big deal about this. just keeping you guys updated step by step.
i would say i was definitly directly affected by the hurricane. my house lost power for 4 days. which is probably the longest 4 days of your life because obvoulsy you cant have cold drinks, hot food, or warm showers. it was pretty bad. my business is STILL without power after 8 days. so i have been forced to stay closed, and lose out on thousands of dollars. even though i still have to pay my 2,400 dollar rent!
so my car, is really the worst of my problems right now.

Wow, cd, you have my sympathies. I guess if you had your Bimmer you could have at least cooled your Cokes in the armrest, and cranked the AC to stay cool. It totally sucks that your biz still has no power. My Mom got her power back in Naples the second day. They didn't even lose any food. You guys got hammered for sure...

When we had our Ice Storm up here in 1998 we went a couple days without power, 'cause the ice dragged down the power lines. The temperature hadn't plummeted, but we were still in our townhouse with no power, no hot water, no cooking, just each other, our dog, and the fireplace. After about the third day we went to relatives who had finally gotten their power back. Some people went 45 days without power! Man,the things we take for granted!
