No, I've never seen a rotor that looked like it has been mauled by a rabid bear. You have a problem somewhere!

Looks like Brake pad "chatter" to me. Those rotors need to be turned or replaced. How many miles?

Looks to me like some mechanic went at it with a 3M scotch pad wheel. Maybe to remove old rust from not being driven? (for a long time) Is this a used car by chance?

+1

Radial gouges/scratches on a brake rotor can only happen in the hands of someone too lazy to turn them on a machine to correct whatever condition was deemed to be wrong with them.

the car had 35K miles when i bought it. this is CPO. I had no problem (besides making noise) until I let them work on it.

You might want to try a different dealership.

Those scratches were done with some sort of rotary tool.

Those scratches are superficial. Drive the car, they will wear away.
I've had worse scratches from debris wear away. I followed my service advisor's advice kept driving, and after a couple hundred miles they were almost gone. As long as the calipers are applying correctly, it should wear down soon.

Anyway, I work at a dealer. A little advise, go sell crazy somewhere else. We're all filled up.

As an alternative, show up at the dealer early with a box full of doughnuts... or maybe sausage biscuits. Crazy won't help you. Food will.
I have no problem rewarding my SA, Veterinarian, Postman etc. when they do a good job. Why would anyone reward someone for work like this?

And here we have the dealership mentality in a nutshell. Quick, let me bribe you to do your job right instead of being a lazy asshole.

Seriously? Let us know what dealership you work at so us "crazy" people can avoid it.

I think he's the tech that is lazy and likes doughnuts. Just joking though. I respect the dealerships but sometimes they think that their customers don't know anything (but some don't actually) and then pray on us like we're road kill.

I will always treat my dealer with respect but I really do not respect the work they do. If their is no dummy light on they take the car in the back for 2 minutes and then bring it back to say it's normal. I have to video every stupid thing that is wrong for them to believe me. I feel like this should be the slogan: "Vehicle is operating under normal BMW specs until proven otherwise"

Heaven forbid people expect quality work.

And people are curious why I do my own labor.
