Berk Race vs Berk Street + Video.
Hey guys just thought i may aswell post this to give you guys my opinion on the 2.
I bought the Race exhaust and had it on for around a month before the drone and cabin noise got to me. The exhaust when driving spiritedly and WOT is incredible, nice deep tone and incredibly unique. However between the 2.5-3k rpm in any driving condition the exhaust drones and that lead to its demise for me. Also with the 7speed DCT, laboring in 7th gear up hills, etc the exhaust becomes quite monotonous. I recommend this exhaust for someone who has owned and lived with loud cars all their life and people who track their 135i's. Now for the Street. The street for me is the perfect mix of the 2, no drone, but the exhaust still has that signature deep Berk growl. The bad drone between 2.5-3k RPM is gone and in normal driving you can be doing 50kmh in 7th gear with no annoying labor sound. Tell me what you guys think! id love to hear your comments and if all my information is correct. Thanks Chase! |

I have the berk full race on my car and don't notice any drone, I drive in traffic an hour each way to and from work so am usually in the low RPM range. I'm used to loud cars so maybe i just don't notice it? The only time the car sounds too loud is while constantly driving at 100-110 in 6th.
I have a video of my exhaust if anyone wants to hear it. |

The Berk Full Race has high flow cats in the mids, and the catless dps dont cause drone. So i would put it down to the lack of cats in the n55 mids. |

I've heard a couple things from different people but the general consensus has been that the N55 doesn't really drone at all. If you and FD both notice drone then maybe this isn't really the case. Also, if there is in fact drone it would make sense that the DCT would notice it at a lower speed than the 6MT since the DCT cruises at a higher rpm than the 6MT in top gear. Finally, I have to wonder how sensitive different people are to "drone." My last car was an S2000, and if you want to hear drone, try that car with the Invidia exhaust! omg.

I have the Berk Race axle-back on my 2013 135i 6MT Convertible and have zero drone no matter what RPM/speed I am driving at, and other than that I just have the BMS single cone intake. I could not see replacing the stock cat back with another muffler (as the Berk Street does) and have no regrets. Actually, I wish it were louder when cruising since I can still hear my wife talking

n54 had no drone. the n55 only had drone in that certain RPM which drove me nuts. Everyone to their own. But i feel the Berk Street is the same type of sound, with less drone. If i had a Lamborghini Aventador id have straight pipes and love it. But its just a straight six and louder doesn't necessarily mean better in this case. Both sound insanely good, but i cant live with the race on a daily basis. My mate who bought the race off me loves it.. notices the drone but can deal with it due to having louder RX7s and GTRs in the past! |

Solution? Don't use that rev range when highway driving...as soon as you go above or below 3000 rpm it goes away. I have the full race and love it even with the drone I would only hope it gets louder after my berk DP and mids go in!
