Why should you care if the price drops if you're enjoying the car?

This guy gets it. Go drive the 911 and see if you like it. You have two years before the M2 will show up and in that time there will be many more tempting cars showing up. I'm sure 1M prices will erode a little bit, but if you can afford a 4S then you can afford to lose a tiny bit of theoretical money. |

Yes. Sell it. You know the price now. In the future, not so much. If you need the newest or the fastest, then get your money now.
Consider yourself lucky that the car has kept it's value well beyond it's inaugural year. Hell, it even appreciated. That rarely happens. Usually, you write off money spent on a car. But in my opinion, you'd be dumb to sell it. This is a modern classic that will only be more in demand as the years go on. Of course, that only applies if you care about that sort of thing. Or are a collector. If not, keep chasing after the new hotness and drive on. |

You just got a whole bunch of good advice here, so I just want to add another because I also have a 1M and 911 50th edition, now just to let you know that I traded my GTR in to get the 911 with MT. I kept my 1M, its almost 3 yrs now, and I love every moment of it. If you are trading it in for a 4S, get a MT no pdk, because if you enjoy driving the 1M.
Also, even tho the 4S has awd, it still has less torque than the 1M, totally 2 diff car. I enjoy my 50th edition just as much as my 1M, they are so FUN to drive. Both have one of the best manual transmission in the market. If you can, test drive a 4S, then step back in the 1M, see if your desire is still there. IMO, keep the 1M, price of your 1M shouldn't be a factor if you still enjoying it.... |

I remember I wanted to sell my 128 with the mods and get a porche carrera. After some research I noticed that the porche value drops like no tomorrow quicker than a bmw. I asked around some people who have sold their porches and have sad that the value of the porche does not stay high like the value of a bmw. I would stick with the 1M. Not only because you enjoy the car so much, but the 1M will be worth its value.
(The porche I was looking at had about 24,000 miles 2012 clean title that was going for the price of a base Honda Accord.)

From the depreciation point of view, however, I don't get it. Financially, why would you replace a car that might depreciate with one that's guaranteed to?

I would never buy a brand new P-car. There are too many fat bankers who
"had" to own a Porsche that end up selling their low mileage 911s within a year or two at a deep discount. This is especially true if you are interested in a MT model. And for the price of a brand new 991 s4, you're getting real close to the price of a 997.2 GT3 which will hold its value long after the 991 is sent to the crusher. |

thanks alot guys for ur opinios , the thing is that i am looking at the z3 m coupe and z4 m coupe they look like too old cars and the price of them is very cheap now and they look ugly .
i think i decided to keep the 1m cuz its a rare car and i will start modding it to have more fun and for the guy who asked why a 4s ? the answer is cuz the rear fenders are wider and i like the way it looks from the back |

If you want to buy a Porsche 911 4S solely based on looks, then go with the original Porsche 911 Big Butt
Money in the bank.

I've owned three Porsches including my current 993 Turbo, If you are worried about depreciation, don't buy a new Porsche. A 991 C4S will cost $140k and be worth $60k in 5 years. it's a massed produced car. I bought a 2002 C4S which was $90k in 2006 for $49k. The first owner took a massive depreciation hit.
If the M2 (which will be massed produced and not limited like the 1M) makes the 1M depreciate, it will still be a $50k car due to its limited production. Even if the 1M dropped to $40k (I doubt it) you lose 10 grand instead of the 80 grand you will lose on the new Porsche.
