Question about Bi-Xenon
I was under the impression that Bi-Xenon meant tht both low and high beams were xenon (HID).
Apparently in our cars only the low beam is Xenon. Which one is correct. |

Bi-xenon means that there is a shutter that flips when you switch from low to high. In our cars we have one xenon projector on each side that does low and high in that manner.
In the US you can't legally have more than two front facing lights in a high position I believe. |

BMW hasn't made any cars with low-beam only HID (xenon) lamps since the E39 and E38 generations IIRC. All BMW's since have had bi-xenon if you had them at all. As the Stig said, it means a single bulb with a shutter to flip between low and high. Not entirely sure what the other bulb gets used for though - DRL maybe. Don't ask me, I've got halogens on my E82.
