Disagree- I get 350mi per tank without really trying or running it to empty. If I had the TT and I might feel differently but with 28/29 mpg I think 14 is acceptable for this car. Sure the 16.4 gal. on my C230C+ 29/30 mpg was nice, but that was more of cruiser- great for long trips for a small car but much less entertaining on bendy stuff.

Worst case mpg = 17mpg let's say.
Assuming 14 gal tank. 14 gal x 17mi/gal = 238 miles per tank 238 mi/tank @ 75 mph = 3.17 hrs/tank. That's a pretty good rest/bathroom break interval to me.

It was a small pain to have to refill every 235-250mi/1 tank of fuel while in Europe...made my trip slightly more expensive, like most, I am used to getting over 300mi to 1 tank of fuel.

The small tank is a little bit of a pain on road trips, but I don't see it as a huge issue honestly.
I like to stop about every two hours on a long trip. My previous car got about the same mileage as the 135i, but had an 18 gallon tank. That ment I'd stop once around half a tank for a bathroom break, and then again for fuel. In the 135 I either stretch the stop out a little more and refuel every time, or shorten it a little on the bottom half. A larger tank would have been nice, but given the size of the car it's understandable. |

I have to say this is my biggest complaint for the 1er. I went from getting 375 miles out of a tank in my E46 325Ci to around 225 in the 135i. It's really annoying sometimes. But hey, I'll take a small gas tank over the 184hp in the 325.

Geez I'm getting over 600km on a tank everytime I fill up. Best I have had was over 700km on a tank! But that's still only 7.5 L/100km. I've had an average mileage on the 401 over a longer trip sticking at 5.6 to 5.9. I must be using the wrong pedal??? The middle one makes you go faster right?? |

How the heck are you guys driving?!
From my trip from boston to ny last night, the avg speed included a bit of stop and go traffic. I have a 135 and even with local driving I'm still getting around 300 a tank.

its not the size of the tank thats bothering me its how im using it. im getting really low amount of miles per tank and im not driving that crazy. im just guessing that because its a new car it just has to break in

It's a 13 gallon tank (12.5 if you stop when you get the first low fuel warning). If you're driving around town you're probably only getting about 20mpg, or maybe a little better, so about 240 miles out of the tank. On the highway in a 128i I'd expect 340 or better. The fuel economy will improve some as it breaks in though. |

Personally, it doesn't bug me. It's all relative. Compared to the M3 it's a gaz mizer.

I got about the same number of miles as my SUV out of the first two tanks. The SUV tank is 17 gallons but the mpg is also less.

car should be a half foot - foot longer imo to make the space. slightly longer wheel base 2. heard some complaints about the wheel base being a bit short. I love the car. but it is year 1, and needs some tweaking.

The car you're describing exists. It's called a 3-series.
